This page describes the Order of Battle for the Tholian, Federation, Orion and Kzinti Forces.

Starting Forces:

Tholians: DPW, NCA, CA, 2 NCL, 3 DD, 4 PC+
  • The Tholians can never have more than seven photon torpedoes in their available expeditionary ships. The Tholians can never have more than six web casters in their available expeditionary ships.

Federation: SCS, CX (or BC), BCG, BCF, 2 CAR+, GSC+, SC+, 5 FFG, DW, 2 NAC, NEA

Orions: BCH, PFT, 2 BR, 4 CR, 9 LR
  • The Orions can only change option mounts in The Galaxy.
  • At the end of each round, any damaged Orion ships which cannot fully repair themselves are removed from the campaign permanently. Orions get no replacements (see below).
  • For purposes of determine what what weapons can be in the Option mounts of the Orions, assume all Orion ships are drawn from the Pharaoh's cartel.
  • In the case of "Special Items", each non-pirate race can provide one special item to the Orions before the campaign begins and, of course, the Orion might not choose to use the system in the best interests of the race that gave it to them and will not return it.
  • The only Orion ships which may operate as scouts are those published in scout versions.

Kzintis: SCS, CVS, PFT, BCH, 2 BC, 3 FFK, DW, 2 DF+, MSC, 2 MAC, 3 DWA
  • The Kzintis may exchange their SCS and their PFT for a single SSCS before the campaign begins.
  • The SSCS, if used, carries 12 PFs.
  • All ships have all available standard refits
  • One X-Cruiser may be substituted for one size class 2 ship (DN, SCS, CVA)
  • The equivalent war cruiser variant can replace any size class 3 ship listed above; the equivalent war destroyer variant can replace any size class 4 ship listed above.
  • No more than three ships in each battle force can be war cruisers, war destroyers, or variants. Escort versions of these ships accompanying the ships they are required to escort are not counted against this limit.
  • Each carrier must have its appropriate excorts assigned by its ship description. Missing escorts cannot be replaced with standard warships and will result in a smaller GP battle force.

Force Organization:

  • Each force can consist of no more than 12 ships, including: 1 ship of size class 2 or 3, 5 ships of size class 3 or 4, and 6 ships of size class 4.
  • Each force can include no more than one Scout, one PF Tenter, and one Fighter Carrier.
  • Note that a Space Control Ship would count as both the only PF Tender and Carrier allowed.
  • Only Carriers and Space Control Ships can carry fighters into battle.
  • Fighters must be operated by a ship of the same race as the fighter.
  • Only PFTs and SCSs can carry full PF flotillas, and only of their own race.
  • Kzinti PFTs are operating MRN PFs.
  • Other races may select the PFs they wish to use.
  • Each battle force can have one flotilla of up to six PFs (no scout or leader) in place of one size class 3 ship. These can be distributed among various ships with mech-links.
  • No more that two ships with command ratings of 10 or more can be included in any one battle force.
  • At least one ship with a command rating high enough to command the entire force must be present.

Forces in Play:

  • At the beginning of the first round, form a battle force from the forces pool above.
  • At the end of each round, reorganize the survivors of the battle force and add new ships to the force as follows:
    • Repairs: Take the survivors and repair them as specified under (U6.281). Any of these ships can be returned to the Galaxy for major (complete) repairs.
    • Reinforcements: Add up to five ships from the forces pool to the battle force. If the force did not advance on that round (or was not successful in doing so), then add up to seven ships.
    • Resupply: Resupplies received in excess of what a ship can carry, including spares, are not recieved. Each ship that carries fighters into battle can receive up to half of its own original compliment of fighters, not including spares, each turn. Each ship can receive up to one admin shuttle each turn. Each true PF flotilla may receive up to two PFs each turn, one of which can be either a Leader or Scout version (if one was lost). Casual PF flotillas may receive one PF each turn (if one was lost).

Replacements:

  • Any ships lost in combat, except size class 2 ships are replaced in the forces pool at the beginning of the next round. However, each race can only replace one size class 4 ship each round (or one size class 3 ship, in which case no replacement is received on the next round). Casualties in excess of this rate may be replaced in later rounds.
  • During the campaign, one destroyed SCS on each route can be replaced by a DN.
  • No BCHs or X-Ships beyond those present at the start of the game can be received, nor will they be replaced with anything other than a Command Cruiser if lost.
  • The Tholians can one time take an NCL as a replacement ship, but after this is done, they can never have another Neo-Tholian ship as a replacement.
