I need help. F5 vs Fed FF.
No matter how often I try this combo, my poor F5 gets trounced in a duel. Even with a floating map, I find that the Fed FF just has too much power compared to the F5. Sabre dancing doesn't accomplish much when he can rotate 5 points of shields every turn. 82 points vs 78 points just doesn't sound right. Is SFB more balanced? Or am I missing something?

No your not missing anything. The F5 seems to have lost a little of its bite in the conversion. That's one of the reasons the F5W was slipped into a communique early on.
Try it again with a F5W or even a F6 it will balance a lot better.

The F5W is a nasty piece of work. I know people who will argue that it's underpointed. I don't think it is, but I've shredded a few Fed ships with them.
The F5 is a bit fragile to be dueling with anything that packs photons. This is probably not the place to reopen the debate on the feasibility of sabre dancing in Fedcom in general. Fedcom is not SFB, and trying to use SFB tactics in Fedcom will get you shot up.
