Our own avatars?

Post by Kang »

Is there any way in which we could please be allowed to have our own avatars on this forum? There's nothing wrong with the existing ones but I have a rather nice C7 pic I want to use....

You need to send the picture you want to use to Matt and he will add it to the list. He is fairly responsive, so it shouldn't take terribly long to see it available. I believe his email is graphics@starfleetgames.com.

On a related note, who do we pester to generate new avatars? I think bugging Matt for something like this would be above and beyond (adding an avatar to the field is one thing, creating one is another). I have a few that I'd like to see, but my efforts are hacks compared to the very nice ones available. Any volunteers?

I believe it is still Matt you would be looking for. Obviously, it would be done as he has time, but I believe he is your man.

Also, another thing to consider is sending him your "hacks" and asking him to clean them up. That is how I got my "Kestral" avatar. I did a brutal hack job, and he cleaned it up and made it look good.

Unfortunately, the avatar I wanted to use when I started this thread turned out to be an image that was copyrighted enough to be unusable, although I had downloaded it freely from the Internet.

It was a screenshot from SFC2 depicting a head-on view of a C7. I had it as my desktop wallpaper for some time.

Try www.virtualcolditz.com/adminimages/kc7.jpeg

Nice :)

I'd still send in your hacks.
In my case, I did the background and text on mine and asked for the ship graphic to be added to it and then have it added to the available avatars. Matt had it done pretty quickly (he just had to ask SVC for the ship graphic).

I like your green/white/green fade but can't do stuff like that myself. I'm limited to what I can hack in MS Paint. I can cut n' paste pretty good, but I'm no artist.

On a related note, what about non-standard registry codes? There's a gap in the Fed BC registry and for my table-top models I filled it with NCC-1757 Nevada, a BCJ (tired of my state being left out). Is that kosher?

I know, ask Matt, he'll ask SVC, then I'll get it as the New Jersey...

If you'd like, I can help you with stuff like the gradient fade, etc.
If you have PowerPoint, you could do it in that (I have in the past).

Regarding the registry #, like you said; that's a Matt/SVC question.

Saw this thread and decided to allow users to upload their own avatars.
I hope Stephen doesn't mind :?
Keep it clean though, if I see any offensive ones I will delete them
Thanks :)

Yeah, that's the kind of thing to ask me first, Eric, but in this case, the answer is, "Sure, go ahead, if you want to do whatever work is involved."

I am not much of an artist, but I would love one for the USS California (NCC 915 Federation Old Light Crusier from Nexus #8 ) with the ship on a California flag background.

Busy this week finishing Orion Attack, but Email me your request (design@starfleetgames.com) and I will put it in my list of things to do.
