FLAGSHIPS ATTACK

Post by Steve Cole »

A board meeting yesterday decided that we need to put out a "real" FC product and soon. The simplest solution was to take FLAGSHIPS ATTACK (one of four products in development) and release it as a series of booster packs. That means you will get the first eight real laminated new cards by sometime in November.

The first of these boosters will contain Feds, Kzintis, a Tholian, and somebody else. Not sure today but I should know by next week. Each of three boosters will contain eight cards which will be CWLs and DWLs (basically, the Kzinti CM and Fed NCL are CWs but not marked as such). These cards have been in high demand by you, the players, because they are very similar to DWs and CWs but cost a few points more for a few extra guns/power boxes, giving you a chance to fine tune your ship selections to hit a particular point value.

There will in 37 be a CWL and DWL for Feds and Kzintis.
A CWL for Tholians.

Today is 12 Oct. Yesterday, the board told me to send 37 and 38 to press ASAP, but given other projects on my desk that may not be as P as we all want, but I'll try to make it happen next week. Target release date for both 37 and 38 would be 1 Nov. No date has been set for 39 and 40, pending a discussion of other priorities and projects. Remember, I can do anything, but I cannot do everything in one day. I am also working on a new Fed ePack for FC, on the second PDF version of ACTASF2, and other things.

Not to get too far ahead, but is an X-Ships set and an FC Ship Recognition Manual still happening? Maybe next year?

X-Ships: We have published enough in CL54 and Communique for you to fly X-ships and send us the test results. When we print an actual product depends entirely on how many test reports we get.

Ship recognition manual: I don't recall ever mentioning or hearing about such a product but the general idea of doing a "reference starship book" for all of the ships in FC is still one of many ideas we can pursue. Just remember I can do one thing at a time, so I cannot do Fighters Attack, Gunboats Attack, X-Ships Attack, Flagships Attack, and a Refernce Starship Book" at the same time. If FC was my only product line that is more than I can do in one year.

Starship Reference Manual (or maybe Recognition Manual, can't remember) is one of the products that has been listed in the newsletter each month as "coming this year."

Any new products for FC are welcome though! (Although I'm not as interested in fighters as everyone else.)

Reference Starship Manual is the proper title (I think).

It's easy to do but not expected to be a bigger seller than a "real" product with new ships so it's not a priority.

It's not listed in Communique. Hailing Frequencies isn't done by me and nobody asked me for an update, which I just sent them for the November issue.

Boosters 37 and 38 went to press Friday. I don't know when to expect them back but I cannot imagine it being more than two weeks.

Booster 37 has the Fed CWL (really NCL something) and DWL
Kzinti DWL and CWL (CML I think)
Tholian CWL
Three Hydran leaders including Warrior and Apache. Oh, yeah, and Lion hunter DWL

Booster 38 has the leader versions of the Klingon D5, F5, and F5W
There are leader versions of the Lyran CW and DW.
There are leader versions of the Vudar CW and DW and WYN CW .

These are of course all laminated cards and will be on our shopping cart. Because the wholesalers would not stop selling to discount webstores, these won't be sold to wholesalers. Retailers who want them can email us for terms.

I got the proofs a few minutes ago but have a problem the printer needs to call me about. I don't see why we cannot have the cards next week. Leanna said she would go ahead and put it on the cart any time now.

Is it intended to sell Boosters 37 & 38 in the UK? I can't seem to track anything down from my usual providers.
