Klingon ePack #3 ship selection

Post by Steve Cole »

I need to pick the six ships for Klingon E pack #3.

These MUST be ships already published in communique or captain's log, not in regular products, and cannot be newly produced ships.

The choices include:

B10 Boom
D5G
D5J
D5S
D6J
D7D
D7E
D7W
D7Z
E7
E7D
F5J
F5L
F5S
F5WC
F6
F6E

Not available are
D6M (published with preliminary rules)
D7A (published with preliminary rules)
D7V

I vote:

B10 boom... so we can add it to ACTASF as soon as the B10 mini comes out.
F6... so we can get official ACTASF stats for the new F6 mini.
F5L.. 'cause we needto be able to field F5Qs in Fed Comm.
F5WC... 'cause its a really cool ship
E7...
D7D...

Not a balanced force, but a good mix of unique hulls/ships.

B10 Boom (doesn't get more unique than this)
D7W (Excellent ship and a good counter to the existing Fed CB)
D7Z (Cool variant)
E7 (completely unique hull)
F5L (Apparently the real reason folks wanted 3-ship frigate cards)
F6 (Given how long the Fed FFB has been official, this is overdue).

F5L
F5WC

F6
F5S
D7Z
D7D

Not knowing the amount of work to put on e23, why can't we have all of them in several packs.

I agree with this, except I would prefer the D7D instead of the B10 Boom.

Klingon ePack 2 is with jean for proofreading.

When I sat down to do ePack 2 I could not decide between card ships and comm/clog shps so I decided to do both 2 and 3.

2 has C8, C7, D7, D6, F5, D7C.

There are 17 ships and with one new Klingon we could do 3 packs.

But there are other empires, and all need their turn. There is some work (finding a scenario and creating the counters) so it's not like I can pop these out for zero work. (Add in Jean proofreading time.)

Some won't get a "new ships turn" because I don't have six NEW (comm-clog) ships on file for them. For example, I only have three new vudars right now.

It's trickier than that. In theory, all of the new ships are in one file. In reality, there are a few in the wrong or odd places, a new ship is done every month, and some have already been used in earlier ePacks.

My vote is the F5S. Scouts are probably the only auxilary I would ever require in Federation Commander in my opinion.

I am a bit hesitant about including scouts in ePacks. If that is done, then certain empires are going to have massive advantages in force selection. I recommend on waiting to include scouts in ePacks until after they see the light of day in a published module.

The could still be unique. If CW or DW scouts are put into Briefing #3 or Scouts Attack!, that still leaves HSC, DDS, FFS, and whichever of CWS or DWS that didn't make the cut available for ePacks.

So, the issue isn't new vs published, or even the particular type of scout, but that some empires will have scouts to use and some will not, that is the problem.

I'm easy. If there are 6 new ships I'll buy it.
