At some point we need a large group effort to actually balance the points (probably will never happen, but it is badly needed). A SB with 8 sensors and a SB without 8 sensors are exactly the same point value. That is just nuts.

I agree with your overall premise, but I think that the "free" sensor upgrade brings the starbase's combat value up closer to where it should be for 600 points.

With the loss of the Wild Weasel, seeking weapon races have a relative cakewalk when fighting bases.

Maybe. I am not claiming that I know the base point values are too low now that they have SS (though I actually suspect that is the case). I am just saying that they are clearly much much better than they were. A base with 8 SS cannot be the same value as an otherwise identical base with no SS.
