Iams,

I'm liking those Feds alot, though I might change the grey sections on the engine pylons to blue. :) Very nice work.

Now you need some decals...

Okay, let's give this a shot. This is the first starship I have painted after modeling microarmor for 20 years. I apologize in advance for the fuzziness of the shots. (Need a better camera). I blanked out the grilled section with .02 styrene, and am thinking that I need to replace the grill with a homemade decal. Does anyone know what the grill work was supposed to be, and what color it should be?

I need to order decals as well.

Nice work on the CL.

(One thing that could be nice to see some day might be a set of 2500-series CLs and POLs lined up together, each with a matching pair of paint schemes; one to cover the warp-refitted ships of the pre-Star Fleet Earth space force, a second to show those in modern Federation service, and a third pair to represent the first ships of the Auroran navy.)

That is a great looking mini!

About the grilles - on mine they looked like just a set of vertical lines following the basic shape of those panels. The color choice is really up to you, but I think most of them have been painted a gray similar to the color you have for the recessed panels and "fins" on the engines.

I hope that was what you needed.

Thanks, guys. Darkwing, that was what I assumed. As far as color, would it be fair to say that the grill work is some type of heat exchanger?

IIRC, the grill is either the impusle engine radiator or intake.

The color for it (from the old 1980's paint guide) is often blue.

Terrific. I just got the decal graphics sized. I just have to play with the color. All of you have been most helpful.

Long time listener, first time caller. I haven't painted any ST ships since the days of FASA's SCS, but the new 2500 line has been very motivational. We've been playing a lot of FC lately and we figured we'd use bases that would work with either system (FC/ACTA:SF).

These were done pretty quick, with one evening of airbrushing (three shades) and one evening of detail work. I wanted a scheme that I could do quickly, but I tried to use enough weathering effects to give them some character. I can give you more details if you're interested.

The resin ships themselves are really detailed, but required some repair work and cleaning. I'm looking forward to seeing how the metal versions come out.

Thanks for looking,
Dave

Dave,
The weathering effect is really cool. You gave them a real "use it till it breaks" Klingon minimalist effect. I really like the red klingon script.
