Federation Frigate Question

Post by Jim Lewis »

I received my Squadron Box this afternoon, and was going over the minis. On the underside of the Frigate, what does this detail represent, and what color should it be? Forgive the quick iPhone photo...

Jim:
Can't see too clearly from the photo, but IIRC - that is the drone launcher.

As for color, I painted mine the same color as the hull and then painted the actual launch port grey.

Concur with Scoutdad. All the "circle inside a rectangle" details like that are drone ports.

Couldn't find a good view of it on an FFG, but it does show up pretty well on this FFB render:

That's it!

Working with the Frigate so far has been a bit disappointing. One of my nacelles is so soft that it bends with the slightest handling. The other is more solid, but both suffers from what appears to be serious mold-shift and are out of round. Both end caps are not recoverable. I also have two starboard nacelles.

It might be faster to scratchbuild replacements rather than attempt to clean them up.

Do you think Mongoose has plans to offer spare parts sets?

I would say in the case of both the soft (not cured resin?) nacelle and the missing port nacelle, you should contact Mongoose customer service and request replacements. You paid for your mini, there is no reason for you to have to order spare parts to complete it.

My understanding is that they've been taking care of folks with issues like these with minis.

I had one Fed CA with a "soft" nacelle.
When I contacted Matthew, he offered to replace it. I haven't received it yet, but hopefully its in the mail.

Jim,

I had similar problems with my Federation squadron set. I contacted Mongoose publishing (sales department) with the list of parts needing replacement, received a prompt email (w/i 12 hours), and was advised that their warehouse would be instructed to send me replacement parts. Now I'm just waiting with my fingers crossed.

Yes - thank you all. Matthew sent me an email last night, passing it on to the people in the service department who can send me replacement nacelles. Prompt and professional - I'm keeping my fingers crossed too.

My DN, CA, and CL are in pretty good shape, so I have something I can get into while waiting. BC - that's gonna take some work...

Jim,

I got a package today from Mongoose in Ohio with all the replacement parts requested. I emailed at the beginning of this week. Despite the news about the delay in production, it is good to know that Mongoose has good customer service.

Update: I received my replacement parts from Mongoose this afternoon - great response time! Not only did they send me a replacement nacelle for by Frigate - they sent two complete Frigates! I know, they're small, but I'm happy!
