United Kingdom Gamers

Post by Steve5858 »

Hi

I am looking for players of Federation Commander, Star Fleet Battles, Federation and Empire.

Who live and game anywhere in the UK to form a group. And maybe meet up and play a game from time to time or run games at show events etc.

Or just talk about the game and the whole Star Trek hobby.

Regards

Steve

Well, I'd be happy to meet up to play FC at some point. I'm probably in about the geographic centre of everyone else who has posted here (from the UK!), but still not really close to anyone!

I'm in Thornbury, just north of Bristol. That's certainly within easy striking distance of Bath if there was any thought of doing something there.

@Sneaky Scot,
Thornbury, that ain't so far away... I go to a boardgames club on Bath on Tuesdays (see link below). Any chance you could make it there for a game of FC?

Would anyone be interested in a Federation Commander tourney at the Stoke Challenge on the 15th of July?

I appreciate that it would be a long journey for many of you and it's comparatively short notice, however the organisers have expressed an interest in hosting a greater range of games.

Stoke maybe possible for me distance wise (about 2 hours away). But they are only open 6 hours, what format would this 'tourney' be? I struggle to see even 2 games being played in that time with the usual tourney format allowing for set up time and break between games. Long way to travel for that.

Manchester on the other hand is emminently doable for me. Maybe we could arrange some form of east vs west (of the pennines) challenge? Not that I can speak for the others I play with, but a couple might be up for such a thing :)

I confess I'd just thought of FC at Stoke as an alternative to playing ancients or WW2. It may not be practical.

As for a Space War Of The Roses, there are excellent facilities over here, either the Manchester Area Wargame's Society's venue, Emlyn Hall in Walkden, or the North West Regional Gaming Center (aka Marauder Games) in Stockport.

The problem is gamers, or lack thereof. Currently there are three of us, one of whom is usually unavailable due to work.

Given that it's likely to be just me, it probably makes more sense for me to travel to you.

Well I'll be playing something tonight, so I'll see if there is any interest. I was ony expecting that there might be 3 of us who would be willing to travel for such a thing, but that could be a 3 vs 3 event by the sound of it.

OK, I have one interested party. The other player is on a work secondment to Stavanger for the forseeable.

If you want to come to us, the Manchester Area Wargames Society meets at the Emlyn Hall in Walkden http://www.maws.org.uk/ehall.html on the first, third and fifth Sunday of each month, and every Monday night from 6:30 onwards.

Marauder games' site is http://www.northwestgamingcentre.co.uk/.

The next two weekends are busy, with the Stoke Challenge followed by the Sheffield Triples. The following weekend I'm on call at work. After that, what dates are good for you?

The next Stabcon is 4th to 6th January 2013 at the Britannia Hotel in Stockport, Cheshire.

Would anyone be interested in a FC tournament? At the moment I'm thinking of a two-day event on the Saturday and Sunday.

There is space available, but I need to be able to tell the con organiser roughly how many may turn up.
