Well thats unfortunate...the 2400 series D7s were pretty poor substitutes for the orignal 4-peice D7s (2200s?).

Not very accurate and poorly proportioned.

Drat.

Hoping the D5/D6s are more accurate to the original.

Adam's art is pretty much spot on/improved over the originals IMO.

Until Wil posted that image in his last post, on the Starfleet Games BBS:

I wasn't sure what the issue was. Now, I can't believe I missed it. I think I was too stunned by the sheer detail Sandrine poured into this otherwise perfect ship.

Apparently it is under review now... so loud cheers, people, for Steve and Sandrine, and their saintlike patience with us fans!

However, if it IS final, even with the angle not quite what I might want, I'll still be buying more than I should. I just know it...

Please note that I had no "horse in this race" or agenda (at least not on the D-7). I had settled into the D-7 as it was modeled being the one that would come out - it was into the region of fine (not perfect, but perfect is the enemy of "good enough").

My main purpose with that image was to (hopefully) convey what some folks were concerned about. It appears to have been successful.

Wil, in my opinion, you did everyone concerned with this venture a big favor.

Having followed some of the other threads on the 2500 line, I've noticed that you are a very active contributor - and I choose that word particularly - not merely a participant. You contribute your time, effort, and skill in creating, visually, that which others just type about.

I appreciate that the workload involved in bringing these models to the market, on time, is a monster of Godzilla-esque dimensions: 65 ships, only 14 finished, only 23 more that are underway.

Having made some amateurish attempts to create pre-Federation ship miniatures using 3D software, my heart goes out to Sandrine.

But I have to say - this will be worth it. This determination to get it right will result in miniatures that not only please SFB players and Mongoose's crowd - but will have a wider appeal to Star Trek and sci-fi fans as a whole. The closer we are to the source material, (without crossing any boundaries), the more we will appeal to those fans.

And the more D7's will be sold! :D

:D :D :D

Thanks for the kind words.

I figure if I'm going to complain, I should offer solutions.

To both djdood and MacrossMartin...thanks for understanding the point I was trying to make...the picture-overlay was a brilliant means of illustrating it.
