Upcoming Conventions

Post by Vanessa »

:D As many of you know, there are MANY game conventions all over the USA at any given time. Although we cannot attend most of them, we do support those that contact us (me) and we do make a Federation Commander appearance although it's in spirit, not in body in the form of a full page ad in their Convention Magazine and through $200 worth of Federation Commander and Star Fleet Battles Games sent to them for raffles and door prizes.

I thought it would be nice to start alerting you to the conventions I know of (that we are supporting) as I send out the ads and convention boxes. This allows you to get out to the convention if you weren't aware of it...if it's in your area.

The newest convention upcoming is PrezCon in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Dates: February 21-25, 2007. For more information log on to www.PrezCon.com

Essen game Fair

Post by Botany »

Hi-
Last year the company was at the Essen Game Fair in Gemany. I hope this was an rewarding experience. Due to stressed time and little luggage space, I could not pick up a copy of federation Commander...I want to do it this year- directly, I know I could get it by mail order ;)
So will you be attending "Spiel 2007" ? :D

Unfortunately, it looks like SVC didn't have a good experience at Essen, and thus won't be returning.

Aha, I see. Nobody told them that Essen IS about special introduction OR Sell off prices. Almost every Store has at least one or more games they give away below MRSP or take at least 10 % off.Especially second hand stores do so. It is a way marketing is done there. I wasn´t expecting that Fed Com sells less, since transportation would be costly. So, well I´ll have to order it somwhere else. thanks fot the Info, anyway

In the thread linked to above, SVC mentions that some leftover stock would be sold by someone else at Essen.

yes, i saw now FC is short for welll Fed Com ;) -Thanks. I´ll certainly go to flyin buffalo, especially so other may know that there is something they should look into for good games-- AND go to the Webpage.Mouthmarketing is never a bad idea ;).What i meant in the post above was, that they had a bad experience- unfortunately so-- and wanted to explain that gamers have different expectations when coming to Essen. Everybody coming to their store and asking for low prices is certainly not fun, if you as a company expect otherwise.
There seems to be a fundamental difference on how Game Fairs are run in Europe compared to the US. As Im no economics expert, I´cant explain why, and I´m sorry that I won´t see them in Essen again

Convention

Post by Capt_Dakota »

Greetings to one and all.
in Fargo, ND - George Takei will be at
Valley Con 34 in October.

Now, I'll be looking around this forum as I have volunteered to
run a Federation Commander game.

I figure I can learn the game by then.

Keep your fingers crossed and I look forward to your messages.

In the SF Bay Area there are 3 conventions.

Dundracon (more RPG/Card games) Presidents Day weekend

Kublacon (Good mix of board/war/card/RPG) Memorial Day weekend

Conquest (More board/War/mini games) Labor Day weekend.

I know at Kublacon there is at least 1 FedCom game on the schedule; I'll be brining my stuff to see if I can get people playing in open gaming.

I think Rick Loomis will be selling some of our products.

I went to Essen once. We had a lousy time (jet lag is a killer) and sold very little. Knowing then what I know now, I would never have gone.
