BoM question
Hello everyone. I have a few questions regarding BoM:
1) Have all the rules that will make this up been determined/printed?
2) If so, where have they been printed, specifically,
3) Is there any plan to collect them into one source?
Thank you!

Re: BoM question
No it is a very large area and I am sure many rules will be added to it. The concept for BoM is that it is a place for any of the more complex rules from SFB to go instead of into the main Fed Com Rule Set.Tiigo wrote: 1) Have all the rules that will make this up been determined/printed?
Not printed but the BoM Material form Communique is all bundled up here covering Maulers, Carriers, and More indepth Scout Rules than the ones in HA.Tiigo wrote: 2) If so, where have they been printed, specifically,

Publish date fro BoM is still To Be Determined but it is on the list for projects to be done sometime in 2011 or 2012. I personally have a secret thought that the actual publishing of BoM is one of the final signs of the End of the World in 2012Tiigo wrote: 3) Is there any plan to collect them into one source?

"Which one of you is the Biggest, Baddest, Bootlicker of the bunch?"
"I am."
"ARCHERS!!! THAT ONE!!!!"

One point of clarification.
It is extremely likely that there will be more than one Borders of Madness product. Considering that a a product the size of Briefing #2 could cover only fighters/carriers/escorts and still leave the vast majority of such items out, I think it is safe to assume there will end up being multiple Borders of Madness products.

I agree I would rather see the X-ships, not to say if they threw in carriers scouts and fighters with it that it would be a bad thing.(kind of satisfying both parties)
and a question for the OP, are you using the BoM rules for more options for play or as a means of playing larger SFB games in the FedCom rules?

While mentioning X-ships, please keep something in mind: only Steve will write the rules for X-ships. Don't suggest how to do it; don't report on how you already do it; don't mention how you would do it. Steve has already said he doesn't need input on it, and has already shut down such discussion before. So, feel free to say you want to see them; but please stay away from the implementation.
X-ships will appear when Steve decides the time is right, and not before.

Mike: I remember the previous discussions re: how to work X-Ships in FC and I was not goign to re-open that can of worms. I was merely professing a preference for the item I'd prefer to see first when next Steve gets unallocated design time.

I'd like X-Ships, but the rules need to be simple, one to two pages. However, I think products compatible with general war era ships are better for FC as a product line. X, EY and MY don't appeal to me as much as FC's base era. I am looking forward to Omega though.
As for PFs, I really don't care to have them at all. Fighters as well. Luckily, as it is BoM, it is optional. I will get BoM, but probably wont use much. Scouts maybe.
What I think FC needs is ground bases. I'd like to play some scenarios with planetary defenses and so on. Also, simple variant drones (swordfish and spearfish) as simple swap outs would be good BoM.
I'd really love to have a C4 kind of product for FC. More simulator races, fleshed out to make them playable in a campaign game, and add the Juggy fleet from the CLs as playable races.

I don't know how you can possibly equate swordfish and spearfish drones as "simple variants"! Simple variants would be double-space drones. Maybe armored drones. Swordfish and spearfish drones are definitely in the "complex variants" category.ericphillips wrote:What I think FC needs is ground bases. Anyway, I have proposed double-space drones as BoM material before, and Steve has yet to be interested in it. I really doubt you will be seeing any sort of drone options in BoM, much less base FC, in the near or reasonably near future.
Ground bases would be cool, but impossible to sell as print ship cards. They might make a decent PDF pack, though.
I do plan on trying to do more Simulator empires over time. I really, really want to do the Flivver, but might have to do the Brittanians and Hispanolia first. (The latter two require basically no new rules. The Flivver are new rules.) I also want to do the Qari and Triaxians, too, as they have fairly complete fleets to work with (the other three I mention do not). The Sharkhunters would be extremely hard to do short of killing their specialness and playing them straight. I would want to wait on the Barbarians. They are easy enough to do, but they are quite powerful and extremely flexible. They should wait.I'd really love to have a C4 kind of product for FC.
