ESG offensive burst question
Apologies if this has been addressed somewhere and I missed it (and I don't have Hydran Attack or the RRB yet, so...):
Played a Lyran/Hydran duel today and shocked my opponent by using an offensive ESG burst as part of a directed targeting attack. Is this legal?

ESGs cannot use directed targetting

He didn't think it was; that's why he asked. He said he was shocked. But without an actual rule preventing it his opponent would be right and you could direct. Luckily this one has a rule addendum.Hod K'el wrote:No offense is implied by what I am going to say; I say it to make you think...what makes you think an area of effect weapon can be directed?
According to Mike West, PPDs can direct target.

Mike did not say however if the splash elements would be able to target if they inflict internal damage.

While it is true they would be among the most powerful weapons that can do so, they are not out of scale with other powerful weapons. Also, with that power comes a much increased chance of the "blow-through" problem that directed targeting is subject to. It is a two-edged sword.
