BP's

Post by Hod K'el »

Okay, then let us send over transporter bombs instead of troops so we can protect us a little better, save our people from getting wasted, and still do damage to the enemy vessel.

I can see it now...
'Drop shield 6!'
'Shield 6 down, sir!'
'Transporter...engage!'
'Bridge, transport complete!'
'Shield up! Weapons...now!'
(Visual of internal explosions)
'Sir, sensors indicate severe internal damage! They are venting atmosphere!'
'Helm...60 degrees to starboard! Aft phasers fire!'

Mmm, yes! I love a good battle!

I seem to remember that not being allowed. Something about the ships structural integrity field or somesuch causing the bomb to detonate mid transport and causing damage to both ships.

Not to rain on your parade though.

Once again, I'm not sure how that matters.

I'll take "stubby" over "hulking" when discussing how much of a target I present any day of the week.

I'ld rather be a dwarf in a 4 ft wide hallway than an Ogre --
Ogre always make a better target --
Especially if the hallway is also only 5 ft or so high --

Probably even worse on a Tholian vessel ---

On a Tholian ship the "hallways" can be upside-down and rightway round pretty much anywhere. Very odd shapes and odd beings.

Guys, get real! That may be the fluff, but that makes no sense. Just think about it!

Not to start a flame war, but...

Devices that move people and things from place to place, thus violating the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, also don't make sense.

But hey, it's a game and a fictional universe, and it's great!! :D

Well we have gotten off-topic pretty far. It's been a great avenue for me to image how the boarding parties might interact. I appreciate everyone's input that has helped me to understand boarding and the hit & run tactics. However, I'm not really exicted to see this go into what's "real" or what's scientifically possible in a futuristic setting that really has nothing to do with the topic. Thanks again everyone.

I suppose the use of ludicrously large words is inevitable? :)

You're right though, I guess the Hydrans would be good in hand to hand combat.

"Hand to Hand" combat in the SFU is usually pistols & grenades, with the occasional use of knives. Although the Kzintis do seem to like to get physical, and Slirdarians as well.
