No offense, but why spend the extra $$$ if you already have all that info, other than the obvious fact that it's all in one place?

Having it all in one place satisfies our inner-geek. :D

As I mentioned somewhere else, my time is valuable --- if all the rules are consolidated and organized it will save me time --- how long will it take to recoup the money vs the time it would have taken to research a rule, thats an individual thing up to each person ---

So that's why Stardates are so confusing

It'll be handy to have it all in one place, plus if it's the latest revision you know it's definitive. That'll help stop (or maybe just help) a lot of rules lawyering. Personally I'm looking forward to getting one because I don't already have all the rulebooks. That and liking to have the latest & greatest :D

As-above.

I don't have time to go thumbing through the CRUL mid-game. I also don't have time to try and remember what product the "blah" rules were in. A lot of things have been added in expansions (asteroid rules, etc.).

I appreciate the CRUL being there, but my play group has a short attention-span and I need to find answers "now" when I need to find answers.

And if you don't have extra money, not buying the other products, ie Romulan Border, Orions, Battleships, Tholians---
Getting the consolidated rulebook will give you the data you need to know what your fighting or when using someone else's SSDs ---

Pinecone:
I have all of the rulebooks and expansions to date... I've even xeroxed them and compiled them in order in a single master volume that I had spiral bound at Kinko's. (OK, os now it's technically FedEx Office - but it'll always be Kinko's to me!)

But, I've also had a super-secret, proto-type version of the FCRRB since September to review, proof-read, and coment on. It's so much handier than the separate books, or the home-made compilation that I'll order one of the official ones when available - just to have everything in one place!

It doesn't matter at this point... since we used it at CoastCon and since the final version is going out next week.

It's not exactly a big secret any longer...

Somebody should have bugged me to update the CRUL after each communique.

It's REFERENCE RULEBOOK not MASTER RULEBOOK.

SFB: Master Rulebook

F&E: Warbook

FC: Reference Rulebook.

We're trying to avoid confusing people so please don't confuse me!

We should be ready to take pre-orders in a few days. I will ask Leanna if she'll consider putting it up a few days earlier than normal. It's complicated because of the credit card laws and banking regulations (which is why we don't take preorders months early, as these have to be reconfirmed by hand and you have to keep the orders in a locked safe). We don't even see your credit card number the way it works. We just get what amounts to a "click here to get the money" link and then (by law) have only 30 days to ship the order. If we take orders 30 days out, half of the people try to "add to" their orders during the 30 day wait and that takes about ten times as much work.

I had suggested a "FLAP" like list for each Communique to account for all the things Eric needs to do (upload new Communique pdf, update website to add links to new Communique, update CRUL per new rulings/clarifications, add separate ship card pdfs from Communique x-issues back, etc.).

Thank you much for the info on the Reference Rulebook we at the Sacramento war college will find this handy for rules calls. I am looking forward to puting this in my binder that holds my info for the Hydra/Tholian CPS.

Sir Drake
Colour Sergeant Bourne: It's a miracle.
Lieutenant John Chard: If it's a miracle, Colour Sergeant, it's a short chamber Boxer Henry point 45 caliber miracle.
Colour Sergeant Bourne: And a bayonet, sir, with some guts behind.
