base weights

Post by wrongway klingon »

found these base weights for keeping miniatures upright, don't know if they are available in the States.

It's probably where they are originally from.

might need a bit of filing to make it fit a hex base.

You can also use fishing weights, they sell small round lead weights that are easily cut in half and superglued inside of a base.

Or just go to Home Depot or Lowes, find a steel washer about the right size, and glue that onto the thing.

I forgot about the steel washers, they're VERY cheap and work well. As a bonus they'll stick to magnetic surfaces.

Or,

Take all those old, unwanted 40K, Babylon 5, and WHF minis - melt them down, and pour them into a hex base shaped mold. Viola - Instant, form-fitting, hex-base weights.

You can't melt down the Emporers defenders!

I used to paint the 40k marines and genestealers. Fun to paint.

If you've got 40k marines/genestealers you don't want let me know.

Then I shouldn't tell you about the genestealers, and hybrids, and patriarchs that will be going on ebay in a month or so to help finance my miniatures buying binge at the ADB booth at Origins... :D

I don't like buying on Ebay..prices get too high at times. I've also got about 50+ FedCom ships and about 50 Kryomek monsters to paint...so getting more would cause my wife to become angry with me.

Because they're plastic, so it won't work as base weights. :(

Currently I've got a Gorn fleet box that has the base color (green) and some highlights. Need to detail and decal before moving on to the next batch.

Scoutdad - great Welsh accent! Clearly, you have attended the James Doohan school of Scottish accents (which is a lot better than attending either the Dick Van Dyke school for Cockney accents or the David Borenaz school for Irish accents).

Not of course that my Southern accent is anything to write home about y'all.....
