Kzinti Fighter Question?

Post by Savedfromwhat »

Hey guys I was just looking at comm 39 (which is up on the Commander's Circle for those not in the know) and I didn't see what the rules were for the fighters, i.e. what weapons are they carrying?

When I read that I was hoping for info on the weapons and how to use the fighters as well. I have since read more in the forums and discovered that all of that is still being worked out. (see the direct fire drones thread)

While I like seeing new stuff, I agree it would be helpful to have at least some sort of info that can be used to play around with the ships/etc when they're included in a Communique.

:)

Captain's Log #37 has the Borders of Madness rules for using fighters in Federation Commander. It also includes ship diagrams for a Federation carrier and a Klingon carrier along with their respective fighters.

Color .pdf's can be found on the Legacy site for carriers and fighters for several other empires. There are "direct fire" fighters (which carry no drones at all) and "regular" fighters, depending on how you want to play it.

If you go to the Legacy site and look in the BoM section, find the Strike Fighters subsection. Then start by looking in the August 17, 2006 archive.

The Kzinti CVS was really intended to be used in conjunction with the rules presented in CL37. The Kzinti TAAS is identical to the Z-Y, and uses the rules for that fighter. And, while the sizes are different, the same symbols are used between the two fighters.

However, for those without CL37, here is the thumbnail rules:
- May launch up to four fighters per impulse (two in fleet scale).
- Same movement rules as the Stinger (speed 16, etc.)
- Each triangle is a single drone. May launch one drone per turn.
- Each external box is a Ph-3. May fire each of the two Ph-3 once per turn.
- Fighters are reloaded at a rate of one drone per four consecutive impulses in a fighter shuttle box.

There are more rules, but then that is what CL37 is for. :)
