Thanks. Well, I spent some time digging into it, and here is what I am considering using:

Skyfire -> KR

Not what the scenario designers intended, obviously (if they wanted a D6 they could have said so), but similar size and capability, and it is nice to "ground" the scenario with one familiar ...

SFTM Timeline

I was curious what FJ had in mind with some of his stardates.

0965 - Articles of Federation; first wave of DDs/SCs/CAs/Tugs authorized
1200.5 - Federation-Romulan Treaty
3030 - Second wave of DDs authorized
3199.5 - Organian Treaty
3220 - Second wave of CAs authorized
3640 - Second wave of Tugs ...

Paraphrased from Wikipedia:

There are 56 land regions
and 19 sea regions.
42 of the land regions are divided among the Great Powers,
and the remaining 14 land regions are neutral at the start.

34 of the land regions contain supply centers.
23 of these are home supply centers, i.e., are located ...

More of a behind-the-scenes question.

SFTM established Alpha Centauri as one of the five founders of the Federation, and gave them a very "Greek" emblem. So either it was an early Earth colony that had gained independence (probably FJ's intent), or the planet had been "seeded" with Ancient Greeks ...

Alpha Centaurans

Anyone know the origin of the idea of Alpha Centaurans being matriarchal?

Diplomacy

In recent years I have been really interested in the Diplomacy Variants hobby of the 1960s-70s. These were often played by mail, with results printed in fanzines. I tried out a Middle-earth variant last year, which was rad! It was also quite illuminating to see how much of modern gaming ultimately ...

Oh, the Kzinti Attack Shuttle Carrier (CV) is at least superficially similar to a Battlestar (TOS). The resemblance is definitely broken up in ways, but perhaps that’s a usable point of reference.

The episode “ The Tholian Web shows two Tholian Patrol Cruisers.

I am new to SFB, too, and buying a couple of miniatures for the Gorn and Kzinti ships really brought them to life for me. I bought a Gorn CA , Gorn CL , Kzinti CS , and Kzinti CL . Also a Fed CL . Pictures don’t do them ...

Funny how the SFU is basically based on a TV episode that pitted a MY ship against an EY ship, heh!

Yeah, see, that’s the thing—I’m an über-geek, and shall we say, detail-oriented. I would notice the difference, and it would grate on me! ;-) Alright, well, plastic it is!

Probably a dumb question, but, here goes. So I got a metal DNG and a plastic DN. All of my other miniatures are metal, but I need a DN (MY). Is there any reason I shouldn’t combine the primary hull and aloft propulsion unit from the metal DNG with the secondary hull and the two rear propulsion ...

I now have 1 of each of: Federation CC, Federation CL, Klingon D7, Romulan WE, Kzinti CS, Kzinti CL, Gorn CA, and Gorn CL. The three designs from TV are obviously classic; otherwise, my favorite so far is the Gorn CL. Very cool little ship!

A plastic Federation DN is on its way next.
