very nicely done. Would you be so kind as to email the first or second picture (your choice) to Joel (graphics@starfleetgames.com) for use as the Mini of the Month?

Sadly, it was pointed out to me that the mobile base in the photos used unauthorized Paramount material, so those photos cannot be used.

Jon, please delete them from anywhere you put them.

That "TNG communicator logo" you used is a license violation that gets us in all kinds of trouble with Paramount. Please never use it again, and please never post any photos of any ship using it.

Will do.

The ironic thing is I didn't intend it to be a "TNG communicator logo" I just thought it was kinda plain with the straight insignia, so I put a circle behind it, then I adjusted it and it became an oval. Subconsciously must have thought it "looked right".

I assume it's ok to use just the original series style insignia marking. If so, I will redo and re-post.

Jon -

I can only speak to my experience doing decal graphics for Tenneshington, but (so far) any graphics based on the pennants/banners on the "tv ship" seem to be fine, as they have a long history in the SFU. This would include the three-pronged "trident" pennant from the "tv ship's" engineering hull and the solid pennants from the engines.

The goldenrod arrowhead glyph (as adjusted for the SFU; it's not exactly the same as Paramount's) is fine, either alone or when combined with the "racing strip" pennant graphics. The SFU version of the arrowhead glyph is available in the SFU Art Gallery and other places.

Combining the arrowhead with any kind of background shape is probably dangerous turf (TNG used an oval, I think Voyager and DS9 used a rounded rectangle, some "future" episodes used triangles, etc.). Using the different uniform patch graphics (which replaced the arrowhead with other shapes) from other starships/bases in the original series would also not be allowed, from that I've seen.

I didn't see any issues with any of the pennants on your mobile base and when it comes time to do my own for Tenneshington, ours will look somewhat similar. The pennants for cargo pods in the source Technical Manual established the precedent, a long time ago.

If you can paint over the decals on the wedge-shaped modules (those are "base augmentation modules in the SFU "fluff", used to add additional capabilities to bases such as fighter hangers, etc.) you'd be in great shape for use of any new photography. For the photos you have already taken, if you want to have them used for Mongoose and ADB, it shouldn't be to hard to paint out the offending graphic in a photo-editor.

They were great shots of a really nicely painted and detailed mini. If you need help with photo-retouches, I can offer to help with a few shots (not all 100). I think people deserve to see such fine craftsmanship.

Thanks for the info.

I'll likely create a new decal and re-shoot the photos, but I might just touch up the one original photo as a starter.

I should also mention that bases are sometimes shown with the UFP symbol and it might be a good candidate for the location you are going to rework.

The later symbol is this one:

There is also an earlier banner, that has been shown on some art (I'm partial to this one personally, as it looks good with the red pennants):

Other bases use the text UNITED FEDERATION OF PLANETS in place of a symbol.
