My Klingon Fleet Box finally arrived.

Not as banged up as the resin Federation Fleet Box was, but it had it's problems:



The resin C8 is attrocious. Flash, resin filling lugs, no stand hole, etc.
I wish they'd just gone to metal on it as well.


The C7s were a 50:50 propostion. One was OK, the other had a 90-degree kink at the end of the boom:



And one of my F5's had a bad case of the drooping boom...

Fortunately, this was an easy fix and has lent itself to naming eh vessel.
Once completed, it will be christened; the IKV Viagra!

That's got to be frustrating. Those bent booms will never be strong again and, yeah, that resin C-8 kinda sucks eggs. That's a lot of work to fix - hopefully the top isn't as fugly?

Top is perfectly fine.

I'm tempted to half-a$$ fix it and paint it in Romulan colors and then give it to Plasmaboy.

So, will that F5 be named the IKV Flacid?

Booms are perfectly fine now.
Both the F5 and the C7 came through surgery with no complications.

I feel lucky that my booms were only minorly warped, but my C8 had the same grade issues that yours did.

More Klingon goodness arrived. Six additional F5s direct from ADB!

My local game store didn't get them today like they said they would. Still in California.....guess I'll have to wait till next weekend to put my fleet together!

Rather than start a new thread, I'm posting here.
I just wanted to give ADB kudos.

I ordered a Klingons versus Orions squadron box thursday after lunch. Guess what was delivered today?
Talk about service.
It almost makes me believe ACME is based in Amarillo, TX.

I had similar (but not quite as bad) issues with my C8, but out was nothing that some patience and an X-Acto knife couldn't fix there is however a small chip at the back rear where the nacelle is glued on. I will need some modelers putty for that.

Also had some dropout booms that were easily bent back into shape.

The two issues I have are that (three counting the minor issue with the C8 ) are:

1) I am missing a D5 out of the set. I have heard wonderful things re: Sprange and the rest of the folks at the 'Goose, so not expecting much of an issue there.

2) Some of the engines, when glued on to their ships, are misaligned slightly by a few degrees, and are noticeable when viewed from the top and bottom. I think this may be due to baking soda residue (to help the glue bond, always a problem for me) our maybe the fuselage is slightly off and I just have to feel with it. Anybody have someadvice on how to proceed here?

Never heard of using baking soda to help glue things.

I use superglue gel to glue the Klingon's engines on, followed by some epoxy on the underside of the join. Sometimes I get an engine that isn't tightly fitting enough that the superglue gel works, so I then break out the 1 minute epoxy (have to hold about 5 mins until it's really firm enough to not droop when I let go of it).

Baking soda sprinkled into a gap and then having super glue drawn into it by capillary action is an old plastic-modeler's trick for gap-filling. It doesn't help make a stronger bond, but it acts as a substitute for putty.

I just received both Romulan and Klingon squad boxes and am really not impressed with the level of QC--the Rom. DN's nacelle points are so screwed up they'll never be right unless I remove the down to the bulb and smooth it, and my Klingon DN is even worse than that one above. The War Eagle, while thank God not in three pieces like all of the Klingon cruisers, was badly warped.

Both of the booms on the Klingon cruisers that have them (notches) were kinked 90 degrees at the very narrowest point, the notch right behind the bridge, which seems to have been custom-designed to sell more models when these ones break.

There's also ridiculously poor casting on what I take to be the impulse fins/grill (on the back of the manta shaped main fuselage under the assembly that sticks up) on one of the Klingon cruisers.

And seriously, why three pieces for the Klingon ships? Aren't the 2400s single-piece for the same ships? Wasn't that a step forward?

I'm hoping that the Kzinti and Gorn will be significantly better in this scale; I'll know soon enough on the Kzinti as there's a squadron box in the mail which I hope will be here soon.

So, are people actually switching over to these? I like the size and the detail (where it's cast correctly) but the QC is not very good, IMHO.

I'm switching over to 2500s, as they are released. However, I now only order from ADB, due to the extra round of QC they put them through.

Mongoose has been doing pretty good about making-good on issues. I much prefer not having issues in the first place.
