Star Trek TOS and TAS Inspiration

As a newbie to SFU, I've been slowly watching the episodes of the original Star Trek and the animated series that I know have a relationship to the SFU. I've seen all the episodes involving Kzinti, Gorn, Romulans Tholians, and Klingons (it's easy to get a list from wikipedia, so I won't repeat it here). Next up is The Doomsday Machine. I've also seen films I - III and will work my way through the rest of those. Any other suggestions?

I'm pretty much where you are on seeking inspiration. I enjoy watching and rewatching ST: TAS, it always gets me in the mood for SFU, and vice versa.

I did the exact same thing when I discovered the SF Universe in 2006.

I would suggest checking the fan episodes done by the Star Trek Phase II team:

The battle scenes are outstanding on the later episodes. Make sure you check the final duel with the Klingon D7 in "To Serve All My Days".

Starship Exeter (another fan production) has an episode involving Tholians (The Tressaurian Intersection). If you pay attention you will notice some references to SFU as well.

These days, ST: Enterprise gets me going. Even with all the weird timeline drifts (Ferengi? Borg? Really?) there's just a neat feel about the show. Oh, and the sexy Vulcan doesn't hurt either.

I've been watching Enterprise as well, but I wasn't going to admit it here

I forgot to mention Mirror, Mirror - I don't think the mirror universe shows up in SFU, but it does in Starfleet Command.

I'll have to take a look at the fan productions next - thanks for the tip.

Speaking of which---

Have TAS on 11 original VHS, just sitting around collecting dust if anyone (still has that format) is interested ----

The SFU doesn't have the "Mirror Universe" (outside the license), but there has been some degree of development done to a similar "reflection universe". That is a dimension where the logical and peaceful Romulans fled the tyranny of the emotional and oppressive Vulcans; so oppressive they went on to form a giant empire (conquering Earth, Rigel, Andoria, etc.).

I'll happily admit it! I'll watch anything Star Trek. With 553 hours of Star Trek out there, I guess it'll take 70 eight-hour days to watch all of it o.O
