Drone Question

I'm a bit confused on how drones work. 4G2 says drones are carried in racks which hold 4 drones and that each drone rack can launch one drone per turn. Now take the Kzinti Battle Cruiser, on the ship card it says that it has 4 drone racks; W, X, Y, Z. Underneath that box there is a box labeled Drones and is numbered 1 through 4 and each number has 4 boxes. So in one turn am I able to shoot 4 total drones, one from W, X, Y and Z or can I fire 4 drones from each rack e.g. Drone rack W drone 1, 2, 3, 4 and the same with X Y Z for a total of 16 drones in one turn?

You can launch a total of 4 per turn. One from each drone rack.
The boxes underneath are to track how many drones have been fired from each rack through the course of the game.
Mark one off each time a rack launches a drone, then erase the mark when the rack is reloaded.

Thanks for the quick response!! I thought that is how it works but I wanted to check to make sure, launching 16 a turn seemed like a lot.

That ship is same ship from FC:KB? If so the ship card does not say how many drones it can control. I assume 12?

If the card does not say it can control 12 then it can only control 6. The Kzinti BC can control 6 drones.
The only exception I'm aware of is the Kzinti New Command Cruiser, which had a missing 'can control 12 drones ' on its card.

Really? May I ask where this is documented?
As a Kzinti player I would certainly like this to be true, but if I bring it up with my group I would want to be sure to have a documented source (either published errata or a forum confirmation from SVC or mjwest).

Try communique 12, where its printed on the revised ship card (squadron scale).

Yes, the Kzinti NCC can control 12 drones. The ship card in the Commanders' Circle shows this (though only on one side).
I believe the list of ships that can control 12 drones is:
Starbases with drone racks.
Battleships with drone racks.
Drone cruisers (cruisers with drones in place of other heavy weapons).
Kzinti dreadnoughts.
Kzinti heavy battlecruiser.
Kzinti command cruiser.
Kzinti new command cruiser.
And that is pretty much it.

But not all drone ships - the small klingon drone ship (F5 variant?) cannot control 12.

I wonder if there's been sufficient clarifications now, in the rules forums, to warrant another RRB6 update?

I didn't think the F5D (or Kzinti DF) had yet been published.
I fixed my prior post to specify drone
cruisers.
