Flying Deuces Tournament?

I was wondering if people would be interested in a Flying Deuces tournament for Fed Com Online?

Here is what is starting up very soon on the SFB Online.

Goal: To encourage new players to Fed Com Online to play more.
Requirements:
1) You signup
2) Your rating is less than 2000.

A ladder tournament format. You sign up for the tournament. Players will be matched up randomly. After you win 4 games in a row you get a 3 month extension. Each game needs to be completed within 3 weeks. If the game is not completed within 3 weeks, the person that is the cause will have a lose given to them and the other person will get another opponent.

I was thinking of something simple to start with. Like, a duel between Squadron versions of Cruisers from various races.

All over that.

I'm in. Some of us are working on getting games going but there is only 4 or 5 of us so we would love to see the support.

Let me know my first game.

Cool. I pick shauneroo for my first opponent! ;-)

Just kidding. But really, don't worry. You can pick up the basics fairly quickly. ... and as you can see from all our questions, we're all still trying to learn the fine points.

We're a friendly bunch and more than willing to help!

Forgive my ignorance, but is it necessary to have the game set up at home while playing online, or does the client show a map, positions etc?

afaik it's all on the screen. You can watch the demo videos on the site and they show pretty much how it all looks, works, etc.

I'd be interested if I still had a working computer and internet at home.

The first thing that needs to be done is the selection of the ships that will be used. I want the duels to be relatively even. I was thinking Squadron scale Cruisers.

The first topic for the TalkCast tonight will be the tournament. http://www.talkshoe.com/tc/17702

I'm open to anything, so squadron scale cruisers works for me.

I don't think there are any official FC Tournament cruisers yet, right?

This could be the first step???

That is correct there are no Fed Com Tournament Cruisers and to be honest I hope that the official Fed Com Tournament never goes the way of the SFB Tournament. I hope it sticks to a Squadron of ships.

I want a cruisers for this one to be simple. This is for beginners and therefore I want it to be easy. Just pick a ship out of collection of 5 to 10 and go at it.

Does anyone else use skype? It works great for games like this, at least if you are interested in talking during the game makes communication a little easier.
