Captain Jack smiles at his tricorder: "Fungoid lifeform, possibly intelligent... Skexis, ready your weapon for stun, and when you're ready, I'm opening the locker..."
Once Skexis is ready, Captain Jack opens the door in such a way he won't be in the line of fire if it jumps out of the locker, and not in the way if it does jump out.
[OOC] If Captain Jack can open this with one hand, he readys his phaser in his right hand... if not, he makes sure he stays out of Skexis' way...[/OOC]

Phasers locked and loaded... Captain Jack opens the lockbox.
There is no explosion and nothing leaps out.
Inside you see... a box... approximately cube-shaped with two feet or so to a side. It is wrapped in brown paper and has a string tied around it. There are no markings on the paper that you can see.

[OOC] This is a trap, I know it's a trap... [/OOC]
Captain Jack rescans the box with his tricorder, specifically looking for a motion trigger or a pressure trigger switch...
If he finds nothing, he throws caution to the wind and picks up the box.
if he finds something, he waits for details as to what he finds.

You find nothing special about the box. You're no science officer, but (aside from possible sentient fungoid life forms) there is nothing inside the box that is volatile, reactive, or mechanical. Based on your tricorder readings... you don't know exactly what's in there, but it appears to be inert.
Captain Jack has picked up the box now.

Marcus is in a small waiting area with a trivideo player.Jeffr0 wrote:Marcus manages to hitch a ride along with the EMT-types. He arrives at the medical facility and it isn't long before the man (Marcus's new "employer") is laid out on an operating table with the computer thing that makes the "boing-boing boing-boing" sounds. A human doctor feverishly works over him for a while, then walks past the nearby waiting area where Marcus has camped out. "That's all I can do for him-- we'll just have to see if he can pull through this or not."
Marcus is now alone in the operating room. There are two operating tables and a few chairs. There is also a closet of medical supplies.
While he waits around, a Lyran is brought in on a stretcher and the doctor goes to work removing some sort of lead slug from his side. "Utterly barbaric!" he exclaims to no one in particular.
boing-boing boing-boing...
A human female nurse comes in and checks the vital signs on Marcus's "employer."

[GM guesses y'all mean the tavern...?]
Back to the tavern... you don't run into anybody on the way over there. The hair stands up on the back of your neck, but you don't see anything except the usual riff raff that patronizes this world.
[GM assumes that] you order drinks and wait a while.... An hour goes by. People really keep to themselves here. There are no bar brawls and nobody tries to mess with you or sell you anything. (It's totally low key compared to the bars back at Donjebruche.)
Time seems to slow down to a crawl until... finally... a man with a limp walks in. He surveys the room and sees you. He doesn't buy any drinks or anything. He walks to your table and sits down without any introductions. [GM keeps the game moving by assuming that you have the package with you, but that it is obscured by a couple of coats or something-- you guys have a booth, not a table.]
In a wheezing sort of voice, the man says, "You have something... that belongs to me."

The man looks surprised for a second... then he looks you both over carefully for a moment... then his eyes narrow.mojo_billbo wrote:Captain Jack Says: "I think we do... we were told to bring it here and we would get $500 for it."
"Deal!" he says.
He then lays a stack of five 100-credit wedges onto the table.

The man takes the package and turns to go... then he stops and turns back slightly. Speaking over his shoulder he asks, "say... you didn't by any chance look inside the box, did you...?"mojo_billbo wrote:Captain Jack hands him the package and takes the credits...
