That's not too far off! I've got a feeling this is going to kick off a whole new series of things to improve the universe like maps for different types of planets you can get, an armored vehicle module etc. I've been dreaming of something like this for SFB for years. I haven't been able to find any good ground combat games and this looks like the answer! Play your space battle with you ships while there's a pitched ground battle on the surface. Play a turn or two of the space battle and then head over to the ground combat table for a few turns. We'll be playing epic battles of Return of the Jedi proportions with this!

You guys are going to make me give up video games! LOL

SFM is streamlined to so that you can stop once per turn during the appropriate point of the FC or SFB sequence of play and play one turn of SFM.
This game does have a scheduled date on the schedule page. I'd tell you what it is, but you'd do better to find and bookmark that page.

Ah, (censored)! Yet another tempting product wanting my meager funds.
As if getting Savage Worlds Deluxe and OGRE 6th ed (The really big box) was bad enough. Why? WHY?!
*stops being melodramatic*
Looking forward to it. Hope the MSRP comes out soon so I can budget accordingly.

Just an update, was reading the legacy BBS where SVC announced that due to being swamped by the "Mongoose Invasion", SFM:A is being pushed back to Febuary.
Oh well, at least that way they'll be able to give it the attention it needs to be a great game!

So, although this is a few months off now, not a problem since ACT will bleed me dry, but are there plans to have combat operations on ships and not all planet based? I have no doubt Xander could do some wonderful ship interiors using proper schematics.

Scharwenka, KRAG or Klingon Rapid Assult Group is being hinted at as being more like a Star Ship Boarding Part Game and it seems it might be more man on man not squad on squad. But that may be a few years away.

Completely forgot about that one, thanks!

SFM has a scale of 200m per hex, and most starships will fit in two hexes, so the SFM engine cannot be used for ship combat.

Is the game still "one squad per. unit"?
Will there be rules for Starship to planet ground support?
Maybe Shuttle landing zones or air/shuttle ground support?
Snipers, mortars, scout vehicles, artillery, APC's or tanks in these rules?

It always was. What makes you think it changed?

Sure, Fire phaser, entire map explodes.
Maybe Shuttle landing zones or air/shuttle ground support?
yes, that's in there.
Snipers,
yes
mortars,
subsumed into HWS
scout vehicles,
you can send anybody to scout.
artillery,
Transporter artillery.
APC's or tanks

"What makes you think it changed?"
Nothing, but you never know what happens during play-testing, and I was thinking of making a "miniatures" game out of it. So I would need to know how many figures to mount to a base.

Well since the game is based loosely on TOS, there was an episode I think it was called "a piece of the action" set on a 1920's or 30's planet where the enterprise did use its phasers on a block of Chicago "not a trekie I may be wrong" But if i remember the phaser was set to "stun"
Thanks Steve.

BTW off the top of your head, how many squads per game would be needed? Round number, I don't what you to spend any time looking up that info.
