Find it hard to imagine going through attacks that cause that much damage and not burn up your battery power -- without engines -- no way fill batteries --

So what does it mean that "the ship has no engine power and is dead in space" (w.r.t. the boarding rule (2D5a))? Does it mean that the ship has absolutely NO energy at the start of the turn?

Wow. Quite the reach-back here.

Anyway, yes, you understand what it means correctly. "[t]he ship has no engine power and is dead in space" means exactly that: The ship starts the turn with no power generating systems, and therefore has no energy to spend in energy allocation or during the turn.

From my understanding, this basically correct. EPS power systems work with the same concept in Star Trek.
