I also noticed that the links for downloads at the Commander's Circle are not working. I have tried with Chrome, Opera, and (eeww!) IE Explorer.

The problem with the Commander's Circle has been reported and Eric is working on it. Backup files do exist for everything, but we need to find out what caused everything to disappear and why it won't let Eric log on as an administrator. It may have something to do with the upgrade to PHP 5; we are not sure.

Just got it fixed. There should be no problems with logging in/ viewing files. It did have something to do with futurequest moving over to PHP5 from PHP4. Basically, in PHP5 "register_globals" is by default set to off. Some scripts on our server were affected by this since in PHP4 it is automatically set to on.

It was frustrating, but we got it fixed. There should be no more problems. However if you encounter any other bugs, please report them to me by email or here on the forums.

Thanks,
Eric

Nice to meet you Eric.

Is there any way to recover a discussion thread that fell off the page?

I'm looking for a thread titled 'Omega Sector' from the FedCom General Discussion section.

Thanks.

I'm not Eric, but I know of one way...
If you posted in that topic, go to your profile and search for all posts (depending on how many posts you've made, this method may take a while to scroll through the pages... I know it takes me a while).
Once you've found a post in that thread, open it up and reply to it.
This "re-opens"? the thread and adds it to the current list.
If you didn't post in it, it's a bit more difficult.
If you know someone who did, you can go to their profile, search for all posts, and follow the above delineated process.
If it's an "Omega Sector" thread, I'd be willing to bet good money that Gary (Nerroth) has at least one post in it...

Tried that and didn't get that thread.

The thread in question had the rough outline of converting the Omega Sector Souldra race to the FC rules.

Is it a really old thread? As per Vanessa's post, http://www.starfleetgames.com/federatio ... c.php?t=53, threads with no replies in the last month get nuked so your thread is probably toast if that's the case.

Eric, I want you to do the settings so that no topic ever disappears unless we remove it.

I'll see if it's saved anywhere. I'll post it back up if I find it.

Pruning (Automatic deletion of old threads) was only enabled for General Discussion. It is now disabled. You don't have to worry about anything getting deleted now.

If it helps there will be a large number of posts by Nerroth and I in the thread.

Dkieth2011,

I couldn't find anything in the database. Since Vanessa had it to automatically prune (if no one posted in it within a month), I'm sure it's toast. Sorry. But it's not set to prune now so nothing will get deleted.
