Drilling a post hole in a Shapeways or 3D printed miniature?

Post by Captain Nebula »

Hey Everybody,

I had a friend print some 3D Star Trek starships, and got some from Shapeways before they shut down.

But I didn't think to have him put a post hole in the bottom to mount it on a hexstand.

It tried gluing one, but it didn't stick.

Does anyone know how I could drill a post hole into the bottom of the miniatures without destroying the miniature in the process? It doesn't have to be a deep hole.

Has anyone done this or have an idea how to do it?

I've never tried it, but I think turning a drill bit by hand, vice using a power Dremel, would give you the best control to make the hole the right size without stressing the mini.

I'll give that a shot.

Thanks, Master Sergeant!
