Planet Killer

Post by MLJ »

Ran the Planet Killer scenario recently. Couple of questions:
The scenario says PK does Speed 16. Can it accelerate/decelerate?
Can PK do a HET?
Can PK set other speeds (0, 8, 24)?

MLJ: Your profile says "Nebraska" .... where in Nebraska? I'm in Bellevue, just south of Omaha.

Garth,

This is Matt Johnson--show up this Saturday (September 21) at Benson Baptist Church and help me run the scenario. Text or email if you need more information.

OK, finally was able to look it all up.

Fundamentally, the Planet Killer (PK) operates as a ship. The only changes are those specifically listed in the rules and shown on the ship card. So ...

1) The rules say the PK is limited to a maximum of Base Speed 16. As such, it may be Stopped, or Speeds 0, 8, or 16. It may not choose Base Speed 24 (or 32). It may accelerate or decelerate as any other ship can.

2) As there is an HET cost given on the ship card, it may perform an HET if desired. However, the ship card specifically states that it may NOT use Evasive Maneuvers, so that is not an option for the PK.

3) The opponent may use Marines to Raid (5F1) the PK, but they may not Board (5F2) the PK. Since the PK has no Marines of its own, it may do neither to its opponents.
