Ship Explosions

Rule 3E in the reference rulebook does not cover ship explosions. When do they occur? How much damage do they do to other ships and how far out does this damage extend?

3E3 on self destruction differentiates between destrying your own ship and explosions. But can't find anything on explosions.

There are no explosions (or ones that have any affect) in FC
