Briefing 2 Miniatures

Post by thom216 »

Any chance of getting a "border box" deal for middle year ships

Maybe Briefing 2 Border box 1
Fed DN, 3 CA, 2 DD, 1 CL
Klingon C6 (would C8 Model work?), 3 D7, 2 F5
Romulan Vulture, 2 War Eagles, 2 Hawks, 1 Snipe
Gorn DN, 2 CA, 1 CL, 1 DD

Border box 2
fleets similar to 1 but with Lyran, Kzinti, Hydran fleets & Tholian/Orion squadrons

I don't see why it couldn't happen. We'd have to do at least two or three new minis. (I don't remember if we did a Lyran early DN but I'm sure we haven't done a fed OCA or a Lyran early BC). 72 is easily divisible into three boxes of 24. I could see Leanna agreeing to this in a heartbeat, but probably only if it's just mail order only.

The first step is to "design" the boxes. (Mike West?)

The second is to ask the sculptors how long to do the missing ships.

The third is to ask you guys if you want to wait that long, or buy the boxes with "substitute" ships for now and then buy individuals later?

A master for the Fed oCA master is well underway - The boss (my wife) has granted me today to devote to making more progress on the master. It's likely I won't finish it today, but it's getting close.

The Fed OCA sounds promising - not least since it could, in theory, be re-purposed as the Auroran CLA...

Plus, New minis for the Royal Tiger and Royal Panther sound neat, too.

Progress on the oCA can be followed HERE (for those interested).

Moderator [probably Mike West] - I suggest moving this thread to the minis section.

Steve:
Juggernaut will be finished very soon.
The Fed LTT yoke is finished..
The Fed DD engine will be a simple assemly...
after that is the Hydran Pegasus.

Since I did the original Monitor, I can do a light monitor after the Pegasus.

At a quick glance I like the ship mixes for the proposed boxes.

The ability to use most of the ships for both MY and GW games is a definite plus.

I would probably buy a couple of these if they were made available.

Could a separate module be cast which could be added to the hulls of Lyran Frigates and Destroyers, in order to make HDDs and HFFs?

Kind of like adding spare sensor dishes to make scout and survey variants.

You could either put a bunch of them into a single blister, or include enough of them in the Bravo box to convert the relevant ships.

(Actually, I don't have the SSDs to hand, but would such a module be usable for a CCH conversion, too?)

The part would be so tiny it would not cast well, and you would barely notice it anyway.

A suggestion from me? If someone wanted to do a quick tutorial on how to do the above yourself with putty or whatnot on the Forum, would that help?
