Andro Question - Satellite Ships in Hangers

I was watching a game last night between the Andromedans and the Klingons, and a question arose that didn't seem to be covered in the War and Peace rules.

If a Satellite Ship is sitting in the hanger, then an Andromedan mother ship can allocate hits to it, starting with the PA Panels. Nothing ...

Well, in fairness, the answer changed.

This was asked at a different point, and there was a much longer discussion on it. (I couldn't find it. It might have been on the Legacy BBS.) My initial answer was to say they would impact. However after much discussion (and a ruling from Steve), we got the ...

Nope. You keep the men alive. If you're feeling charitable, then you release them. If you're not, then you ask their employer for a ransom payment.

Why is it not legal?

In this case pretty much because Mike - who is second only to SVC himself when it comes to resolving Fed Com rules questions - has decided to define this particular grey area in the fashion described. It is a grey area in the rulebook. I was watching the game that inspired ...

You'd need to create two sets of overlays, though, as you'd need one for each hex size and that's not something that can be made reversible.

While we've only seen playtest rules for the Vudar and ISC, SVC has stated on multiple occasions (including within the last month or two) that the plan is for the Andromedans to be in War and Peace. Until we hear otherwise, I think that it's fairly safe to assume that's when we'll see them.

I'm a geek and fully understand the attraction of something like sub-pulses from a geek perspective: we geeky wargame grognards perceive the higher granularity as being more "accurate" and it's certainly closer to SFB in that respect. But being closer to SFB is not attractive from a playability ...

Or in other words, those NDDs and NFFs may have been running around with dreadnought firepower (actually, probably less than that) but they were still just frigates and destroyers. One good volley from a cruiser squadron would still have been enough to blow them up.

Giving up fractional energy would be a deal breaker for me. It effectively removes the entire point of having phaser-3s (and horribly screws up Gatling Phasers). And the sub-pulse system is the heart of the game. Deceleration is a completely new addition to the game, and is quite possibly one of the ...

You can only launch one shuttle - and if you do so then you can't recover a shuttle that impulse. The only exception to this rule is the Hydran Stinger, which is assumed to have specialized launch tubes that will allow all of the Stingers onboard a ship to be launched simultaneously. Note that this ...

There's a rule in Starfleet Battles called 'Narrow Salvoes' that allows weapons of the same type to be fired using just one die roll....
But more often than not, it's used to fire at ascatterpack at long range. Hopefully, you'll hit and destroy it - but at least you don't hit with just enough ...

There's a rule in Starfleet Battles called 'Narrow Salvoes' that allows weapons of the same type to be fired using just one die roll.

It's also banned in the official tournaments, iirc.

The technique is probably okay when you've got a fairly good chance to hit and/or with weapons that don't do ...

When talking about Hydran ships of a certain size class (and smaller than a BCH), you need to mention whether you're referring to a Hellbore ship or a Fusion ship. In this case, it appears that you're referring to Hellbore ships (which makes more sense, since Fusion-only ships are always fewer ...

Once again, I'm not sure how that matters.

I'll take "stubby" over "hulking" when discussing how much of a target I present any day of the week.

They are also easier to hit (They are Short and Stubby)

Er... the smaller race is easier to hit? How does that work, exactly? The easiest races to hit would be the Gorn and Kzinti, as they're by far the largest.

On a more serious note, I think it's pretty safe to assume that all starships have ...
