There is no try. You have no option when using plasma races. They MUST be used on a location map. 4J "Always use a location map (8A1) instead of a fixed map with plasma"

actually it does.

No more than 1/3 of a fleet amy be NEO, nor more than 50% of a fleet may contain web casters.

I don't imagine you are going terribly fast, either. With only 5 hexes in a strand, you probably don't want to move very far or very fast. Especially in a duel.

Or are you zipping around after all?

The web tactics Pat et all are referring to are based around squadrons of ships of 450 points ...

thing is to put out a 5 string full power web is quite energy consuming too to be honest. to do multiple 5 string full power webs wont leave much energy for firepower, shield boosting etc unless stationary.

Drones do not hit their target until after their movement occurs in a sub-pulse.

The only way a drone will miss if fired in the same hex as it's target is if the target is moving at 24+1.

In FC I'd be interested to see how well it would do against other ships. Might have to try one in our next game.

The Fed FF has always been a beast of a ship. Probably the best Frigate in the game.

I guess folks were feeling sorry for the Federation pig turn modes and threw them a bone :)

It is: (ship system + frame damage) / 2.

Probe does not count in fleet scale (as it is not a "box").

But Fleet scal ships have probe launchers, they have ammo tracks and they can be hit on the DAC..Why wouldn't they count toward cripple status?

yea, that's a mistake on the player playing 2 ships. You stack them and run them as a single 'unit' where possible. Then yo are talking a whole different ball game.

Later in the game, splitting up forces can be advantageous, but usually not at the start.

In 2-v-1 games, remember that the single ship only has one shield you have to blow through.

Also in the mix is the fact that each ship rolls seperately for volleys, so you have twice the chances to hit critical rows on the DAC.
