What color did you use as the base hull color for your Federation ships?

Thanks!
Sorry I missed your question. They are Testors Flat Gull Gray.

Nice work, indeed.

I've seen pictures of those figures before, but for some reason, it hadn't really occurred to me that you could backdate them to the original-series style tunics.

Re: Yeah, but...

You guys can make your own. Just search the internet for the matching font you want (USAF, Federation Hull, or Amarillo), use MS paint to format the lettering to your liking and you can print them to your hearts content. SVC has listed the names on-line or make your own up. You get the numbers on ...

There's a good tutorial at the SCN website:

I've tried this method, and it works well, although it is labor intensive.

I've heard of using Future as a substitute for gloss coat, but I always assumed it was applied, then allowed to dry before doing anything with decals. Working with it while still wet sounds pretty messy. But if it works...

It's not too messy if you use a very small amount of Future ...

My friend in the model club told me that you can put Future floor wax on the mini where the decals are going to go before you put the decals on and they'll go down better. I bought a bottle to try it but haven't yet (since I still haven't found my decals.)

Yes, that works very well. You can ...

I like his Klingons a lot, as well. The sharply swept-back "wings" make them look fast, like fighter jets from the 50's .

Yes, that was what I was envisioning, as well. Strips or small groups that were not specific to any class of ships.

Another suggestion: Portholes/ windows. Once you have an ALPS it would be possible to do both lit and unlit. I've painted them on some of my models, and it helps give a sense of scale.

Decal versions would have the advantage of being more tidy than painted dots. They could also be in a variety of ...

Regarding NCC's and separate numbers, I think it would work OK for the larger numbers on the top of the saucer/primary hull. But the Federation ships also have those tiny numbers in other places, like under the saucer and on the nacelle pennants.

At first it seems like it would be great to be able ...

Re: SFB Miniatures

The ADB Starline miniatures are 1:3788 scale (long story told in other postings... )
I'm not sure what scale the FASA ships are in, but if it's not the same, it's very close. I have some of the FASA miniatures that I mix in with my ADB stuff and they are very close in size.

The FASA ...

Hi, I'm just in the process of re-furbishing some of the old Zocchi ships, and I have to say that the slightly oversized look of the Pomroy decals was putting me off ordering them. I'd be interested to see what the smaller versions look like.
