Why no YouTube videos? The short answer is that there's never been a call for such things. I suppose one could be put together if enough people thought it would be worthwhile.

As far as learning how to play, a demo version of the rulebook can be found at the Majestic Twelve Games web site:

I can take a look at formatting options, but my gut reaction is that for printing purposes landscape is going to remain the best option. Simply too much wasted space any other way.

However, I believe it is a small matter to format the PDF so that the displays are viewed "right side up" on the ...

Will Unity sheets be usable in Admiralty?

Yes. But you'll need to be familiar with the Unity rules to do so.

As one example, in Admiralty damage to weapons is governed by the "weapon damage chart": roll a die each time a weapon hit is scored, and lose one weapon from the indicated battery ...

Will existing AE sheets be usable in this system?

Yes. If you've got certain types of equipment, you might need to make a couple notes on the sheet (e.g. the number of anti-fighter batteries is cut in half), and customized fighter flights aren't currently supported, but in general, Admiralty ...

(NOTE: "We" in this post refers to Majestic Twelve Games; I do not presume to speak for ADB.)

I certainly understand your reaction, but to be blunt, you've precisely articulated the need for Unity. (See what we did there? :) )

Over the history of Starmada, a new edition has come out every 4-5 ...

This is not new -- drone racks were also "one shot" weapons in the Admiralty version of the SFU ships.

As a rule of thumb, anything "fast" or "light" will have its speed increased by one. Likewise, anything "heavy" would be reduced by one.

Starship Thrust Ratings

For the Nova conversions of SFU ships, I've gone with a set thrust rating equivalency, depending upon the ship's classification:

Battleships = 3
Dreadnoughts = 4
Heavy Cruisers, Battlecruisers = 5
Fast Cruisers, Light Cruisers = 6
Destroyers, Frigates = 7

Most ships will fall easily into one of ...

Starmada Nova Rulebook now available for pre-orders

Spring is in the air... birds are chirping, bees are buzzing, and the Starmada Nova Rulebook is available for pre-orders!

Starmada is a miniatures board game of starship combat. At its most basic level, players take command of mighty fleets in a general attempt to reduce each other to just so much ...

Starmada: Nova Edition -- The Plan

Okay -- so if you've been paying attention, you know the new edition of Starmada is about six weeks overdue. I apologize for that, and I hope the wait will have been worth it. Besides, it was unavoidable, what with the new job, new house, and new baby on the way (OMG).

In the next week or so, pre ...

Designer's Notes: Defenses & Damage

In previous editions of Starmada , the requirement has been that all ship defenses conform to the same "shield saves" mechanic. In other words, whether a ship's "in universe" explanation for its defensive capabilities was "shields", "armor", "interceptors", or what-have-you, they all operated in the ...
