The scales could represent escape hatches for life pods or a passive sensor array. If not, how about shield emitters or a kind of bussard collector system used for propulsion.

Since there are plenty of ways to explain what the scales could represent without having to state just what they are, it ...

Don't forget to account for the fact that the OCL has an armored hull all-around. So some of that thickness should be considered with this in mind.

Wow, that is just simply amazing and a lot of attention to detail as to the number of domes each arm carried. and to bring it down to 2400/2500 scale. well done

I wasn't into buying miniatures before this. Although, seeing how the ships turned out in the casting, I think I'm about to start a new pastime here that my wallet will not be too happy about.

As too buying the "cloaked" ships.... what color scheme do I use to paint them :D

You have to remember some key points:

The vanes on the Tholian PC are about two decks thick which the two largest decks on the Fed saucer cover.

The extra decks on the saucer, the multiple decks on the "neck" and secondary hull would take up much more volume than what is left on the PC.

A wild weasel interferes with the tractoring ship's ability to lock onto a protected ship with a tractor beam.

Negative-tractoring is the equivalent to applying a forcefield against a tractor beam. (It does not use active fire control to block a tractor beam) It doesn't xoid a wild weasel.

What Sgt_G had pointed out with the YIS refits, was that in order to NOT take the Ph-3 refit, you also have to NOT TAKE the plasma G upgrade because this refit occurs after the Ph-3 refit is installed.
