Federation Commander

I just thought I'd post here to say I'm very keen on this product! Definitely prefer squadron and fleet scale side by side on the same page.

In addition to looking forward to BoM in its own right, since we use FC in our Prime Directive games as the ship combat system, I have been looking forward to ...

I love the frigate, truly fantastic.

I'm a bit weird - I prefer matt finishes for some ships (e.g. Feds, Klingons, Eagle series Romulans) and glossy ones for others (Kzinti, Hydrans, new Romulans). Thankfully, even if you don't want a gloss finish in the end, a layer of matt varnish over the top of the painted and decaled miniature ...

On curved surfaces, I find it easier to get a decal into just the perfect position if I have (gloss) varnished the surface first. This helps the decal slide around more easily without ripping.

After I apply decals and they're nice and dry, I always varnish the model again, although whether I use ...

PD: Federation is hotly anticipated by my group and I am sure many others! I'm sure you and the team will get it right.

The declining exchange rate and my impending wedding has so far stopped me from ordering my copy direct from ADB but as soon as this book reaches Australian distributors I will be ordering it. I am so glad it has come out - love the cover art too

This is too bad as the SFU decals I have bought from Starfighter have been really top notch. I might have to order a bunch of Romulan ones before they disappear...

I'd love to see an ISC sourcebook, although there are a couple I have higher on my list. Can't wait for the Federation sourcebook, which is obviously highly anticipated, but Loren Knight is working on the Tholians sourcebook and I have very much enjoyed his fiction so I am looking forward to that ...

That's a good point. I've been rethinking some aspects of my example Free Trader.

By the way, GURPS Spaceships 2 is now out and I like it a lot. It has a lot of rules about the operation of freighters and civilian ships which I think are quite useful for GURPS Prime Directive.
