==================== STAR FLEET BATTLES TOURNAMENT UPDATE ORIGINS 99 Revised 4 May 1999 >....The following information updates that published in Module T, and Captain's Logs #15, #16, and #17. ================================================= CHANGES TO SHIPS >....ANDROMEDAN: Delete PA mine, 2 Cargo, & 2 AWR. Convert remaining AWR to APR. An updated SSD is available at http://www.starfleetgames.com/sfb/tournament/tourney.htm. >....ARCHEO-THOLIAN: The breakdown rating was changed (from the SSD published in CL#15) from 4-6 to 5-6, resulting in a powerful competitor. An updated SSD is available at http://www.starfleetgames.com/sfb/tournament/tourney.htm. >....FEDERATION: No change from Module T. >....GORN: No change from Module T. >....HYDRAN: This ship was given a phaser-1-360 between the hull and APR. An updated SSD is available at http://www.starfleetgames.com/sfb/tournament/tourney.htm. >....ISC: This ship has been given two more phaser-3s (one LS, one RS), i.e., the standard battery of three phaser-3s on each side. An updated SSD is available at http://www.starfleetgames.com/sfb/tournament/tourney.htm. >....KLINGON: No change from Module T. >....KZINTI: No change from Module T. >....LYRAN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC RED JAGUAR: The design in Captain's Log #15 was found to have adequate weapons but inadequate power. Two APRs have been added. An updated SSD is available at http://www.starfleetgames.com/sfb/tournament/tourney.htm. >....LYRAN: Revised SSD is provided to show the UIM table for the disruptors. It can use the UIM only once. >....NEO-THOLIAN: No change from Module T. >....ORION: No change other than the limit of one phaser-G in each package and elimination of the special phaser damage rule that was in CL#15. >....ROMULAN TFH: No change from Module T. >....ROMULAN TKE: The ship in Module T proved slightly too vulnerable to damage. To correct this, five more boxes of armor (total 10) were added. An updated SSD is available at http://www.starfleetgames.com/sfb/tournament/tourney.htm. >....ROMULAN TKR: This ship is approved as it was published in Module T. >....SELTORIAN GREEN WIND: While a good fighter, tests proved that the ship provided in Captain's Log #15 was slightly power deficient, so we added two warp boxes, making it one of the fastest ships in the tournament (especially when making an HET). In addition, an additional Web Breaker has been added. An updated SSD is available at http://www.starfleetgames.com/sfb/tournament/tourney.htm. >....WYN AUX: This ship is now required to have two "local" weapons instead of the one "local" weapon specified in the original Module T rules. >....WYN BLACK SHARK: This ship, published in CL#15, became an outstanding competitor after we allowed it two points for special drones. The HET cost is 5 and there are no Erratic Maneuvers in the tournament. >.....JINDARIAN: A playtest version is available at http://www.starfleetgames.com/sfb/tournament/tourney.htm. THIS SHIP IS NOT SANCTIONED FOR NORMAL TOURNAMENTS ================================================= SPECIAL NOTE! >....ONLY tournament ships published by ADB Inc. can be used in sanctioned events. If you see other tournament ships in use, immediately advise the judge that these will cancel the sanction and prevent the award of an ace card. If the ships are not withdrawn from use, report the situation to ADB so that the integrity of the tournament system can be maintained. ================================================= RULES UPDATES >....The Lyran ship should have a UIM-disruptor table, but at least it is clear that it can use its UIM (once). >....The LDR ship in Module T is cancelled in favor of the Red Jaguar in CL#15 (as updated in this product). Note that the Red Jaguar does not have a UIM. >....An Orion with a drone rack can swap for type-IVs. The Orion ship is limited to one gatling as noted above. >....For (C12.364) penalties, use hull boxes, then labs. >....The racetrack infield is a tournament barrier. Optionally, it is a "grass infield" you can fire across, but moving across it costs five movement points per hex (web movement rules). >....In Assigned Target Games, you can hit the "markers" over more than one consecutive turn IF you draw your own ship on both turns. The "markers" should be in 2212, 1917, and 2517. ================================================= STAR FLEET BATTLES ORIGINS UPDATE >....ADB will be running the usual array of tournaments (Captain's, Patrol, Saturday Patrol, F&E) and seminars (tactics, F&E, Universe) at Origins 99. If you have never been there, just register for the con (and any events you wish) and then come to the ADB control desk and we'll get you started. There is unlimited seating for all tournaments if you get there by 2pm on Friday. Even if you get there on Saturday, you can still play in the Saturday Patrol. You cannot be left out; if you don't get pre-registered just come on down. >....We previously offered several times to start the F&E tournament each day, but the result was that one or two players showed up at each time. We now have only one F&E session per day which allows us to bring together enough players to get several games started. ================================================= >....This special update is copyright (c) 1999 by Amarillo Design Bureau Inc.
