STAR FLEET BATTLES

ERRATA

Star Fleet Battles Errata: (R0.0) through (R1.0)

(R0.0) Module J SSD Book, General: The hollow triangle is a type-VI, the triangle with a black line in the middle is a type-I, and the black triangle with a white line in the middle is a type-III drone or a "special rail."

(R0.0) On SSDs, fighter boxes marked = are drone, plasma-D, or fusion-armed fighters. Fighter boxes marked + are disruptor, hellbore, or photon-armed fighters. The "BD" Boxes are used to record if the ship has broken down one or more times.

(R0.4) The term "war cruiser" includes the Federation NCL, the Klingon D5, the Kzinti CM, the Gorn HDD, the Tholian CW, the Orion BR, several Hydrans (Horseman, Traveler, Mongol, Tartar), the Lyran Jaguar, and (in most cases) the Romulan SparrowHawk.

(R0.5) This section was to have been in Advanced Missions and to describe the available miniatures. As there were no miniatures available when Advanced Missions went to press, the section was not included. TFG has announced that new Star Fleet 2300 miniatures will be issued in the summer of 1994 and new rules will be released to support them.

(R0.6) "Size class 0" used for some monsters brings the total number of size classes to eight. Medium ground bases are size class five.

(R1.F4D) This rule is mislabelled as (R1.F4).

(R1.F7) The F-15E is a special case.

(R1.F7A) Heavy EWFs have the drone control ability of two-seat EWFs.

(R1.PF3) When buying PFGs for a patrol scenario in which the PFGs will be carried by one or more ships, the Marines do not come with them for free, but must be purchased as commander's options or taken from ships (commando ships, troop freighters) in the battle force. A player might buy and pay for a troop transport (which comes with plenty of Marines) and leave it out of the battle force, assuming that the Marines were transferred to the PFGs out of enemy range before closing in for the assault.

(R1.01) SB SSD: The SSD in Basic Set should show repair-capable mech links on the PF pods. Note that special sensors are destroyed on phaser damage points.

(R1.01A) See also (R1.R2) in Module R1.

(R1.01B) Neither position blocks the use of the other position.

(R1.01B2) This rule effectively prohibits the use of troop or starliner pods docked externally to a base's augmentation module positions. Such pods could be docked operationally only to the base's normal ship docking stations.

(R1.01D) In the case of enveloping weapons, or multiple fire through more than one down shield, the penetrating damage through each shield arc would be resolved versus the facing docking module as a separate volley.

(R1.01D2A) Last sentence: "... scored on the WARships."

(R1.01D3) This creates an exception to the phaser directional damage rule.

(R1.02) BATS SSD: The SSD in Basic Set should show repair-capable mech links on the PF pods. Note that special sensors are destroyed on phaser damage points. Orion BATS SSD should have 30 BPs.

(R1.02A) BATS have type-D drone racks and ADD-30s. BATS can control a number of seeking weapons equal to their sensor rating. Klingon and Lyran BATS have one (total) UIM; rule (D6.56) is correct here. See also (R1.R2) in Module R1 for early weapons. Repair is considered cargo and center hull in Basic Set. Note that the typesetting for "D r n" looks like "D m" to some.

(R1.03) BS has type-D drone racks and ADD-12s. BS controls seeking weapons equal to its sensor rating. See (R1.R2) for base weapons during earlier time periods.

(R1.03) BS SSD: The SSD in Basic Set should show repair-capable mech links on the PF pods. Note that special sensors are destroyed on phaser damage points. FED BS SSD: ADD #2 should be G-rack.

(R1.03A) Note that weapons in the #2 position have 360° firing arcs.

(R1.03B) Repair is considered cargo and center hull in Basic Set.

(R1.13) Actually, "most" races used these (rather than "all") since the Andros have no fighters and the Orions, if they used AuxCVs at all, did so in a deception that no one has detected yet. No auxiliary carrier can cloak.

AVAILABLE FIGHTERS should include plasma-D fighters as an exception to no "energy based" weapons. Kzinti ships can carry AAS or SAS, but rarely carried a mixture of the two types.

BASIC SET: This class can accelerate by five or to double the current speed.

(R1.13A) Tholian AxCVL SSD does not need LS/RS arc explanations.

(R1.13B) Hydran AxCVA SSD fighters #12 and #24 should not have fusion charges as they are EWFs.

(R1.14C2) Submunitions of a ballistic MW or SP cannot target a ground base unless the MW/SP was launched from and releases within a range of 4 hexes or less.

(R1.14F) The Andromedans had their own version of the GBD2.

(R1.15) DefSats are always at maximum weapon status.

(R1.15B) The Kzintis use disruptor DefSats.

(R1.15D) Automatic DefSats fire their hellbores in the first hellbore option step.

(R1.16) SSD PFM repair boxes should be labeled REP.

(R1.20) SSD: Small plasma-armed freighter, D-rack replaces Torp A.

(R1.21) SSD: Large plasma-armed freighter. D-racks #1 and #2 replace F-torps #A and #B.

(R1.22D) FED monitor had type-E drone racks instead of type-G prior to Y167. No change in BPV.

THOLIAN see (R7.35) and (R7.R2).

(R1.22E) Federation SCS: fighters replace repair, not cargo.

(R1.24) The "Cloak energy +12" refers to the cost of operating the cloaking device.

(R1.24A) Each tractor on the MB pods is a docking point. Gorn heavy and light battle pods are mounted with the FA arc facing inward and the RA arc facing outward.

(R1.27) WEAPONS TABLE: Lyran AxPFTs have no drones stored (unless they have three Fi-Con PFs).

(R1.27A) SSD: Second W2 should be C not B.

(R1.28E) The note on damage to the "works" is not needed since this type of base does not use the DAC.

(R1.28G) The note on damage to the barracks is not needed since this type of base does not use the DAC.

(R1.28H) The note on special sensor damage is not needed since this type of base does not use the DAC. The ground warning station can only loan EW to ground bases in the same hex/hexside.

(R1.28J) Reference to (K2.4) should be to (K2.26).

(R1.28K) Reference to (K2.4) should be to (K2.26).

(R1.28P) The power grid structure is recorded secretly in writing and exposed at the end of the scenario.

(R1.29) Commercial Platforms DO have positional Stabilizers.

(R1.31) SSD: Second W2 should be C not B.

(R1.33) Reference to (SN4.0) should be to (SG8.0).

(R1.35) The Lyran W3 and W4 should be phaser-3s.

(R1.4Z) General notes on Base Augmentation Modules. Each type of base has its own rules for mounting these. These do not come automatically with a base; their presence will be listed in a scenario if applicable.
