Good stuff. Kinda reminds me of SFC.
Any close ups of the gorn?
What are the bases "spines"/"backbones" made from? _________________ O.G. OPTIMUS

Thanks OGOPTIMUS,
The Gorn ship is painted dark green. I used gold and silver for the detail parts. I also used light blue for the tips of the warp engine. I bought some orange Gorn decals from Starfighter Decals awhile back and figured that the green would go good with the orange. I still have to put the decals on. Kind of nervous about this, so plan to do it when I have plenty of time. Next time I take pictures I will take a better one of my Gorn fleet with the Gorn base I made.
The plasma torpedo was made form aluminum foil rolled into shape. I then sprayed it red and dipped it in resin. I use EZ Water resin, because all you have to do is heat it up. You don't have to mix two parts for a chemical reaction.
The Federation base was made using a clothing pin, McCormick salt top, plumbing flanges, and a funnel for oil that I belive I got at Wal-mart in the automotive section, or the male section for a garden hose extra that I got at Home Depot. The sensor dish (bottom section) was made from the swivel part of faucet nozel from Wal-Mart. I used the other section on my Klingon base.
The Klingon base was also made in three sections. The command section (top) was made from a clothing pin top (bead), washer, coke top, poker chip, and a nozel for a faucet (Home Depot). The bottom section was also made from a nozel for a faucet (Wal-Mart). The middle section was made from either another funnel for oil that I got at Wal-Mart or a garden hose funnel that I got at Home Depot. The pylons were made from aluminum rod and wooden beads. The spines/backbones were parts I chose that had ridges, to go along with the Klingon style. The parts of the Klingon base with ridges are the coke top, poker chip, and the funnel. I just looked around for stuff that kind of mached.
On both bases I used green stuff to fill in any gaps. The bases were mainly made from parts I had around the house. I also walked around Wal-Mart and Home Depot looking for cool things that would fit together while my wife was shopping.
If you are interested in making your own, let me know and I will look for the exact parts next time I go shopping. |

I especially like the Federation base. Reminds me a bit of the Spacedock from Star Trek III onwards, except in a "TOS" style. Excellent! |
