It sounds as much fun as tractoring someone to hold them still so that conga line of 6 suicide shuttles can finally do something.... |
LOL....conga line. This strikes me as a hilarious image... _________________ The innocent shall suffer...BIG TIME. |

If you really want to play some bad FC.... DON'T THOUROUGHLY READ YOUR (OR YOUR OPPONENT'S) SSD.
I was playtesting a Fed Battleship, and completely ignored the RA photon torpedoes. When you're big, and everything chasing you is smaller and more agile, your options run out quick after your HET.
Movements I thought were reasonable turned out to be pretty boneheaded.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. _________________ "The only thing we have to fear is.. fear itself!"--F.D.R. |

My kids did that one with Battleships during playtesting. A Fed BB vs a Klingon B-10. My oldest son plays what we affectionately call the "close'n Hose'n" strategy. Basically, its go straight... go straight... go straight... go straight... fire everything... if you survive the overrun, then HET and prepare to fire again.
His B-10 survivered the over-run... barely and he HET'ted. Only to be on the receiving end of the overloaded RA photons he didn't know existed! _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

Man, I have never heard of so many HETing Battleships!
BTW, don't forget about rule update (2A2a) in the Battleships rulebook ... _________________

Yup.
Battleships do NOT get a free HET!
Add that to "Rules that Kill"

No. There is no such thing as "nimble" in FC. _________________

Excellent. At least there will be no super cheap EM or 2 free HET's then. |

Although most frigates get a cheaper move cost, which results in practically cheaper EM and HETs. The Orion CR also gets a somewhat cheaper move cost. _________________ "Captain" Terry O'Carroll, fourteen papers published including six best of issue

Most frigates can run around at 24, fire all their weapons OL'd, have enough power to accelerate every impulse, and STILL have power left for EM and HET. They are nasty little buggers.
The sole exception is the Fed Frigate, it has a tough time getting that Photon overloaded, but once it is overloaded, watch out, it is quick.
the thing with all frigates though is that they are crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. One good volley will gut them.
(Fleet Scale player here..so all comments relate to fleet scale FF's) |

Yeah, I'm in total agreement about the frigates.
Fleet scale frigates are, imo, basically PFs (albeit with fewer heavy weapons). |

Absolutely true about Frigates, but boy are they fun to fly! They are tough to hit, but when you do, you smash them. |

So if frigates are so good, I bet orions must be pretty tough.
They actually are like big frigates. |
