I know its early, but the HMGS-Midsouth guys are really looking to expand their player base by moving beyond just historical games.
Last year, I ran [IMHO] a very sucessful ACTASF weekend - 12 different players in 6 events covering about 26 hours.
This year, we want to top that... and to help, HMGS is being more than kind. The event organizers have already requesting a chance to get together and discuss the upcoming convention. They have offered me a choice of:
1) Double the floor/table space in the main hall and located right in front of the entrance.
This will limit me to about 16 players max during the tournament, but will still allow for the huge Battle of Kh'rtis Rock scenario on Friday night.
2) A smaller, separate room dedicated solely to ACTASF.
This will enable us to have the potential for more players, but will not provide anywhere near hte pass-through observation of the ongoing games.
Befroe I get together with Brant and Scott to make plans, I need some help.
Who's planning to attend, or thinks they may be there in May?
What are your thoughts on Main Hall versus dedicated gaming room? _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

Last reminder...
Nashcon 2013 begins in 6 days and the ACTASF tournament in 7.
Who's planning to be there for either:
Battle for Kh'rtis Rock on Friday evening
ACTASF tournament Saturday
or both?
Myself, Plasmaboy, and Kenneth will of course be there.
Anyone else? _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

Day one of NashCon is over.
Battle of Kh'rtis Rock was an awesome experience.
We had 12 people playing at the same time. 6 Klingon players / 6 Federation players.
4 of whom had never played ACTASF before but are now hooked.
We got a late start (4:00 instead of 2:00) or we could have gotten another turn or two in.
After 6 turns, the BATS was destroyed and so was half the Federation assault force - but there were fresh Federation forces just arriving.
Points wise, the Klingons had the edge... barely. But with fresh Fed ships and severely damaged Klingon ships - it still could have gone either way.
Everyone had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Pictures to be posted on Sunday after everything is over and I have time to gather what few wits I have left. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

The tournament ended up a bit smaller than originally hoped.
Several players who wanted / planned to be there had unavoidable issues arise.
We had a total of 8 players... 6 full time and 2 part-timers.
the end results were:
Merl DeWitt - 1st place.
Mark Thomas - 2nd place.
Michael Olive - 3rd place.
Mike Curtis - 4th place. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

Day three was just some demos of ACTASF and a special request demo of Federation Commander.
Merl DeWitt graciously showed Robert Stusse the FC ropes, while I did my usual thing...
Demos, answer questions, and generally talk up ACTASF.
During the two demo sessions scheduled (Friday afternoon and Sunday morning), I ran a total of 14 people through a brief (30-40 minute) game with 2 Fed heavy cruisers versus 2 Klingon D7s.
Most of the demos were actually two people playing against each other, but a couple of them were me versus a demo person.
More that a few of them asked where the game could be found and were their any players in their areas.
The best demo occurred on Friday afternoon.
Robert Stusse (lincolnlog on the forum) came down from St. Louis for the game. Well, the first two guys to come up and inquire about demos had already bought the game and some minis, but hadn't had a chance to play. As we were chatting - I found out they were from the St. Louis area - so I immediately introduced them to Robert - who immediately took them under his wing and proceeded to explain the game mechanics and where they played in St. Louis, and when they played.
