Does the Manta Ray-class Fed NCF have ph-3s? I ask because it does not in Starmada, which I find unusual, and I know the Starmada ships are based on those in FC, but I do not have the FC ship card for it to check. |

I don't have access to my ship cards at the moment (and the NCF is not in Communique) but the SFB SSD for it does not have phaser-3 mounts. This is somewhat like the DDF fast destroyer, which also lacks them. _________________

That's good enough for me. I see what you mean about the DDF. What made me wonder if the Starmada ship card was wrong is that the CF has ph-3, as does the NCA, so I thought the NCF would as well. I still find it a bit strange that it does not. Thank you! |

Converting a ship to "fast" requires some sacrifices and not every hull makes the same sacrifice. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

Is the Manta-Ray class an X1 design? |

No.
It's a "fast" cruiser. Usually, that means some streamlining and (in some cases) special high-power warp engines (the NCF just adds an extra standard NCL engine). That tech pre-dates the General War, long before X tech appeared. _________________

It's also more efficient if you assume that one ph-3 takes up more than 50% of the hull space/mass of one Ph-1, since a Ph-1 can be downfired as two Ph-3's. |

A Ph-1 can be downfired as a single Ph-3, not two. It only takes a half point of energy to do so, however.
In SFB, an X-ship can downfire an X-Ph-1 as two Ph-3, but that is only for X-ships.
That said, it is a Ph-3 mount is approximately half the size of a Ph-1 mount. _________________
