I'm new to ADB products, and unsure how you guys usually handle releases, so I have some questions regarding the release of new ship cards.
From lurking various forums I've come to the conclusion that at present I can find cards SFU ship cards for Starmada three places. Klingon Armada, Captain's Log #40 and the free cards on: http://www.starfleetgames.com/starmada.shtml
Firstly I'd like to point out that I only know this after doing quite a bit of research, as a new customer it's not easy enough to find out that there are these different sources.
Second for my questions. Since I'm only interested in the Starmada cards Captain's Log is a pretty hefty investment for just those 4 cards, will these cards be made available in future products? (I hear there's a Romulan Armada on its way) or is there a way to buy just those cards?
Do you make ship cards available electronically? Will there be ship cards made available through Communique?
Did I miss anything? Overall I'm pretty overwhelmed and having a hard time figuring out what's available and where I should be looking for future products. So far it seems that to stay up to date I need to regularly check:
- several forums (mj12, this forum and the other ADB forum)
- Communique
- Captain's Log
- http://www.starfleetgames.com/starmada.shtml
- The ADB store for new book releases |

I'm just a player like you, but one thing I can identify is that you don't need to include Communique in your "to check" list. Communique is a vehicle for the game Federation Commander only.
I would add the Hailing Frequencies newsletter as a good source of product release news. The sign-up for it is on the lower-left corner of Federation Commander.com, but it is a resource for all ADB products. _________________

Only a player as well. Some info that may be of use to you
November hailing frequencies is at
http://www.federationcommander.com/Newsletter/November_2009/
It mentions Romulan Armada as April 2010 with a reference to specific date TBD.
Usually the ship SSD pages included in Captains log are for sale as a stand alone item for around $2 in the store. Caveate being I think there is a shipping charge (~$6) added to the product as it is a hardcopy of those pages.
The store page for ships SSDs in Captains log is at
http://store.starfleetstore.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=S&Category_Code=10-1
Captains Log 40 is new and I believe Leanna (who handles mail orders) has been out sick a few days so the separate ship cards for Captains Log 40 may not be available yet. You could try e-mailing her at Sales@StarFleetGames.com to ask when Captains Log 40 SSDs will be available for sale as a separate product, ask if they will include the starmada SSDs and what the shipping cost is. Aside - I have found her to be very prompt and helpful in her respones to questions (with the caveate above about being out sick)
In many cases, ships that are in Captains Log end up in up in future products. It may be the next product or it may be a few products down the road.
It appears that the ships going into starmada products match those in a pair of Federation Commander products. I believe Romulan Armada will likely include the ships that are in Fed Com for Romulan Border and Romulan attack. I believe this was done as it matches the miniatures in the applicable border boxes (3 and 4) and squadron boxes (7 though 12).
I usually look at the following location on the legacy BBS for product schedule updates.
http://www.starfleetgames.com/discus/
Romulan Armada is listed in the rough outline section as a 2010 product.
I believe the Klingon Armada cards (not the game) are available electronically at steve jackson games at the following location

There is a Starmada/Klingon Armada page, and we'll have it updated to explain this better shortly.
Klingon Armada has a bunch of cards, about 40. They're available in hard copy from the ADB web store (as part of Klingon Armada) and electronically (as a separate pack) from e23.
Captain's Log #40 had four extra cards. Two of those will be in Romulan Armada. The other two will be put on the website shortly as there is no specific product in sight for their release. (Maybe two years down the road.)
The starmada page also has some extra free cards for download.
Gimme a second to find the Starmada page url for you:

Ok, I just got the four cards sent to Eric. He might or might not get them uploaded today, and if not today, he might do them Saturday or Tuesday. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander
