Anyone know of any PBP/PBEM Prime Directive games going on? PBP is about the only way I get to do any RPGing anymore, and while the format has its faults, it can, under the right circumstances, work pretty well, especially for character-rich games. |

Sorry!
PBP: play by (message board) post
PBEM: play by email
For example, I play in a couple Call of Cthulhu games online (http://www.callofcthulhu.org.uk/) in which the players and "keeper" contribute posts both in and out of character. |

I would love to see somebody doing a PBP game here and we can set up the GM with is own section. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

I think that'd be really slick, and that's the kind of thing that I had in the back of my mind. Besides being fun/entertaining in its own right, it might help showcase the game a bit and let people know it was a going concern. If someone gets one going, it'd force me--literally force me--to buy the books. |

Jpat, which system were you thinking of using? I'm familiar with GURPS, at least I used to be. I'd love to play in an online game of PD. _________________ "Captain" Terry O'Carroll, fourteen papers published including six best of issue

Using GPD would make it handier for players keen on playing non-TV races (such as the ISC member races or the Seltorians).

I got the memo and will try to get to it today, or tomorrow at worst.
There's going to be a problem with posting deck plans (the board doesn't like giving away products for free), but once I asked a few questions maybe we can find another way. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

That almost sounds like I was going to run something.
If I were playing, I'd probably say GPD. Even though I have a pretty strong d20 background (and have edited some d20 fantasy books), I'm not the hugest d20 fan, although I mostly admire its thoroughness and rigor.
But I'm flexible and don't even own any of the books as yet (which is a good reason for me not to be in charge ).
Edit: Let me just amend that slightly to say that I'd help set something up or do whatever in the background, as it were, if there were something for me to do. |

I am talking to SVC about the possibility and details of running a Prime Directive game on this board. If we go ahead with this, I would be using GURPS: Prime Directive (the GURPS 3 version).
Stay tuned for more details. _________________ My goal in life is to be the kind of person my dog thinks I am. |

I'm pretty "out of it" as far as GURPS is concerned. Is this the version of PD that's currently being sold?
Edit: Never mind. I found my answer. Good to look before posting ... |

Bump for a good idea.
I did end up getting the three GPD (4) books, though I've barely cracked any of them. I got the two race sourcebooks in a fairly decent deal, then ended up getting the main book. |
