No, not really. The ... what did you call them? Methan-breathin, trash-can lookin no-good dirty rotten Hydran?? Yeah, them things. There's all sorts of gas giants, but the trash-cans can only live on certain types. _________________ Garth L. Getgen

"low-down, dirty-rotten, methane-breathing, trashcan-lookin'..." was the proper invective to use with them.
but, they are experts at hydra-forming, so there are many planets they can use. And if th atmosphereic make-up is wrong, you just chuck enough of the other life-forms into the gravity well to change the chemical make-up...
Humans provide carbon...
Horta provide silica...
Tholians provide something...
Kzinti provide... nothing!!! _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

Actually, more like 50 terra-colony worlds and 200 domed-colony worlds.
I might mention that the F&E Order of Battle is also on line. Go look on the Master Index and you'll find tons of amusing documents. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

SVC: Yes, the F&E OOB is available. My point is the fleets are too big for an FedCmdr campaign, so I cut them down to a more managable size. In F&E, the Feds start with 8 DN-hulls and 41 CA-hulls, not to mention the all the CL/DD/FF scattered about. There's 178 Fed ships on the map when they join the war. How do you run a tactical level campaign with that?? So I cut it down to 2xDN and 13xCA, and everything else also to 1/3 F&E counts.
The problem I was thinking about last night is build vs loss rates. To keep the campaign form growing into a monster, we'd need to keep the build rates low ... but not so low as to be unable to reasonable offset combat losses. I haven't crunched any numbers yet to see what the income might be like, using the ideas presented up-topic.
Actually, I probably need to open a new topic, rather than keep hijacking this one. _________________ Garth L. Getgen

For a Federation Commander campaign, the Federation Admiralty campaign guide is in development. It has three scales: Grand (general war size) Regional (one front of a larger war, or one long border) and the smallest, which represents a sector commodore along a border, trying to do his best without starting a war. So with that you could dial-a-scale for your campaign. _________________ "Captain" Terry O'Carroll, fourteen papers published including six best of issue

It's being produced by VBAM (Victory By Any Means)
It's currently in playtest, but you can get more info from the forums on thier website. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

It will ultimately be produced by ADB. There has been a topic discussing this on the other BBS for.. oh, a year now? did you miss the memo, Garth?
I finished reading it a week ago and sent it back for revisions. Jay is working on them. I will need playtesters before I print it and Garth is more than welcome to apply. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

Tony: Dead link.
SVC: No, I didn't get that memo. But then again, I wasn't looking for FedCmdr campaign rules last year. _________________ Garth L. Getgen

Well, crud monkeys. I just cross-checked the FedCmdr Master Ship chart with the OOB that I posted up-topic. I forgot that a lot of ships in SFB / F&E aren't in FedCmdr yet. Ergo, the Kzinti carriers shouldn't be listed. Same with some of the Hydran ships. {sigh} But it does get the idea across for the fleet sizes I'm suggesting. _________________ Garth L. Getgen

Well if I find myself unemployed next week I may take a crack at writing up the Admiral's Game (U3) from SFB and sending it to SVC so he can laugh at me. That is really about as simplistic as a Campaign System you could ask for.
But even so it only had like 26 to 30 ships total per race, not counting the 2 Scouts and 1 Tug. It used no Economic Rules each player received a flat build of 3 War Cruiser and 4 War Destroyers a turn. SPP did a update article on it recently I think as well. _________________ -Dal
