I know some of you SFB'ers out there have the flagship cruiser, does anyone happen to know the shield values on that thing? _________________ http://www.rickknox3d.com |

man, they just never bothered with anything but that number for all cruiser levels lol. I held out hope the CC might actually upgrade a bit. _________________ http://www.rickknox3d.com |

Just think of it as economy of production.
Why produce multiple types of shield generators when you can just produce a heck'ofa lot of the stander 30-30-24-24-24-30, one-size-fits-all generators? _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

That's still pretty good shields though, whether or not it's different to the ordinary cruiser Presumably something else about the ship is better instead, such as more power/weapons and of course the usual for CCs is improved command facilities (not the case with the Lyran CC, admittedly). |

oh yeah its a beast otherwise. 2 ppd, 2 pl-s, 8 ph-1, 6 ph-3, 6 pl-fs.
i just didn't have access to that peticular ship and wondered if they bothered enhancing the shields like the other CCs got.
Have to wonder if the ISC ever made a BC or BCH that had better shields. _________________ http://www.rickknox3d.com |

Now that (ISC BCH) would be a true beast. They may not have one, since their heavy cruisers are practically the size of everybody else's BCH anyway - you could see they don't really need one! |

I may be wrong on this, but I always looked at ISC Capitol ships as one higher Class type then what there card says. For example, a CL is probably more comparable to a CA (or at least a Middle era CA). A CA/CC is closer to a CCH or perhaps a BCH. There DN's are closer to a Heavy Dreadnaught or perhaps a Light Battleship (if there is such a thing). There picket vessels though, are fairly close to other races comparable ships (POL, FF, DD, etc.).
But if the ISC did ever come up with a BCH, wouldn't it be comparable to a Dreadnaught of other races? Actually better, it would have the speed and maneouvering of a Cruiser, with possible DN armament (YIKES!). |

Hmm...Light Battleship. I think that sounds like a new ship everyone will want to have. _________________ Speed is life; Patience is victory

Isn't a "light battleship" basically the same as a heavy dreadnought? DNH type ships were invented to cover the gap between dreadnought and battleship, so I'd imagine that a "light battleship" would be very similar to a DNH. It's sort of like a CCH being between a CC and a BCH.
Perhaps a "light battleship" would have a difference of design, for example a light battleship could go down the common 4-engine design route used on battleships, but using 4 light cruiser engines instead of heavy cruiser ones, or something like that. This would bring its power out about that of a DNH but with a "war battleship" sort of configuration. Anyway a DNH would probably do the job just fine if you can't be bothered with the idea, but that's not to stop anyone from having a bash at "light battleships" if you want to. |
