Download Transmissions
The latest Communique brings you more ship cards, scenerios, fiction and more news from the Star Fleet Universe! It can be downloaded from the Legacy Site. Don’t forget, you have to register before being able to download the latest full color Communique! Star Fleet Universe News The Legacy Site has undergone a major makeover. The new front page (by Matt Cooper) is now much more professional (not to mention prettier). Matt has also added a Site Map with buttons for the most-wanted areas, and a Master Site Index which lists everything on the site with direct links to it. Please keep your eyes open as the changes continue and report any typos and give suggestions. This is your site, let's work together to make it better! We are looking for a few good Star Fleet Ambassadors! As the marketing director, I can't be everywhere and that's where you come in! Do you go to gaming forums like Board Game Geek, RPG Net, or The Miniatures Page? Then WE NEED YOU! To get complete details of the Ambassador program, please see the Federation Commander Ambassadors category on the Federation Commander forum. FC Forum Hot Topics The Federation Commander Site and Forum continues to grow as more gamers find it. This month’s Hot Topics include a thread titled “5S Special Sensors in CL 35” located under the Rules Questions category. Another popular thread is the “Fan Made Ships” which can be found in the General Discussion category. For new players, the Legacy Discus forum can make one feel overwhelmed and lost whereas the new Federation Commander Forum is a little easier to manage as a newcomer. Come see what all the commotion is a about and join the Federation Commander Forum now! FC Tactic of the Month In Federation Commander, all firing during the same impulse is considered to be simultaneous, but is resolved as separate volleys. Rule (3A4) defines a volley as "...all of the direct-fire weapons of a single ship fired during a single impulse at a single target..." Rule (3D2) allows the attacker to decide the order in which volleys are resolved. Does the order in which they are resolved matter? It certainly does matter! In most instances, the largest volley should be resolved first, as it has the greatest chance of knocking down a shield, which will prevent any further volleys on that shield from being reduced by shield reinforcement. Additionally, if any internal damage is scored, you may get lucky and take out a battery or two which will help reduce the ability to reinforce against future volleys and volleys scored on other shields. But is there ever a time when you'd resolve volleys in a different order? It depends on the tactical situation. (More...) Visit our Star Fleet Café Press Store for a complete listing of the products available. SFB Tactic of the Month Getting your suicide shuttles to impact your opponent usually requires the ships to be at range one with the enemy either not moving next impulse or moving into a predictable hex. If this situation develops on Impulse #10 or #21, you have another trick to use. Launch the shuttle at speed five. After consulting the impulse chart, your opponent will see that speed five is not scheduled to move next impulse. (More...) F&E Strategy of the Month The arrival of Strategic Operations finally allows us to understand how the Hydrans were able to rebuild their fleet in the Old Colonies to the strength necessary to break through the Lyran Firewall. The problem is that when the Hydrans are forced from Hydrax, they must first sink most of their income into simply rebuilding their shipyard before they can even think of rebuilding the Royal Navy. Star Fleet Fiction North Roon City, Planet Roon Let me get you another round," the waitress said, whisking away the empty glasses. Christopher Plemmons nodded vaguely and returned his attention to the girl across the table. She was sweet and pretty and seemed genuinely interested in his plight. I can't blame Father too much for bringing me here," Christopher said, "at least not since I met you." Ask Admiral Growler ELECTRONIC WARFARE Federation & Empire Q&A ANSWER: There is not a six-month delay. The rule means the planet joins your grid at the start of the next player turn, regardless of whose player turn that is. So if you capture a planet on your own player turn, it joins your grid at the start of the next enemy player turn. QUESTION: A Romulan Snipe is in supply at start of the Alliance Player Turn. During Alliance Operational Movement, the Snipe is put out of supply. At the instant of Combat, the Snipe is still out of supply. The Romulan player wishes to use cloaked evasion. The cloaked evasion rule states that any ship that is "in supply" can use cloaked evasion.
